Help! Multiple Pedal Setup Problem

The amount of pedals I've got going at once is too many for me to tap dance my way through a live show.

Half the pedals are on for my dirt tone and half are on for my clean tone.


I know there is a way to setup a board so that I can just stomp one switch to switch from using all of my dirt pedals to all of my clean pedals.

I believe it involves using a MIDI somehow...

Basically I need a way to engage a certain combination of pedals with only one stomp.

If you just need 2 banks of pedals to go "on" or "off", you could always get a looper pedal on the cheap. I have a looper pedal with 2 banks from when I went that route years ago from Loop Master. Great guy doing the building. I actually have a few of his boxes from my old pedal board days. I currently use a DMC/Voodoo Labs GCX with 8 loops that I control via midi with a and Ground control Pro.

The looper is definitely basic, but it gets the job done just fine. You can get a 2 bank looper for about 60 bucks and have 2 banks of any pedals you place in each bank available for access by the stomp of the button. You would still have to turn one bank on and the other bank off each time you went from clean to dirt and vice versa. But it "can" be done with one foot. If you require more than 2 banks, there are also looper pedals with up to 15 loops i believe. At that point I would get something like Ben Peterson suggested, as I believe it is capable of multiple pedal combo presets.

As my rig got more complicated I went that route with much success and much less tap dancing, however I went with a rack and racked my pedals using the GCX and Ground Control pro. There is always more than one way to skin a cat. Good luck!

If it were me I would get something like Ben Peterson suggested, as I don't like to tap dance at all at this point in my life. But things can get pricey quickly when going that route.

Basically it's already been covered but what you're looking for is a programmable looper/bypass strip. You're going to be able to get a couple of added bonuses by going this route. First off you're going to be able to set your pedals to groups that are one when you want them in the chain and off when you don't with one stomp.
Also you're going to clean up your tone by eliminating the signal path to just the pedals that are on.
Now being a fan of pedals myself I hope you have a buffer pedal along the line as that will help keep the integrity of your tone to the amp.
Prior to EB announcing their new MVP pedal I picked up a JHS buffered mod volume pedal and the integrity of my tone was through the roof so it's a legit suggestion.
And lastly ill leave with this do some research and find what works for you and your budget. I'm a pedalboard builder and use some alternatives to what is mentioned at a fraction of the price which are surprisingly better if you have any questions feel free to drop me a line a d ill be glad to help you out.

The looper is what I was looking for. I knew there was something along those lines but it just wouldnt roll off the tip of my tongue.

Here are a few more options which would make your pedal rig really versatile in terms of looper switchers. From all the ones I've researched and read about, these two companies seem to have it done right. You can basically program any order of pedal combinations as you like, and also have amp channel switching capability.
