I know the amps and cabs are of good quality, but I'm interested in hearing how happy or unhappy you have been with a marriage of the two. I've got some Eden products on the way for my godfather, and I have no problem bringing some in for the store...

Hit me!

Good, bad, or otherwise :D

Great question. Not that anyone asked but here is my little story:

I left my house to go to a local store to buy an Eden D410LXLT that they were basically giving me at cost $650. and came home with an Ampeg PR410HLF because they were going to sell it to me for the same price. I was really stuck and they both sounded good but decided on the Ampeg. I am still 2nd guessing myself. The Eden cab is also new but sitting in the store for a year and has some minor wear.

The Eden guys on other forums are telling me I made a mistake by buying the Ampeg. I am using a HA4000 head with this 4ohm cab and it rocks.

I play a lot of classic rock and some blues so I am comfortable with this cabinet but still 2nd guessing myself.

Thanks

Hey,

I love the slightly "eden colored", high-f tones I get from my eden 1x12 combo when matched with any of my EBMM basses. That bass/amp combo leaves nothing lacking in the tone department.

The sad thing is, I have yet to find an Eden rig that REALLY lasts
I recently had my Eden combo shipped from Korea in it's original box and now the high end response/horn sounds noisy and full of artifacts...in fact, it sounds terrible.
A buddy of mine, who wasn't much for taking care of his gear, also had an Eden 2X10 combo which sorta crapped out. Granted, the issues I speak of do not make the amp/speaker combo unusable, but it still sounds like @$$.

Soon, I will be deploying to Iraq to entertain soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines...and I am trying to get my army band to buy some lightweight MarkBass gear so that we can get in and out of those blackhawk helicopters easily and still sound good.

I wonder if the Markbass gear can handle the rigors of the road/sky better than Eden!?

Hmm...I've had no problems with my Eden rig and EBMM gear(Stingray5 & fretless Sterling I owned previously). Tone is supreme. I'd say get the gear from your godfather, test it for a while, if you don't like the sound Eden has excellent resale value (as do EBMM's)...just sell it off and try something else.

Pete,
I have owned an Eden rig, 500 watt head and 4X10 XLT Cab.

They are nice amps, very warm sounding. I do prefer Ampeg and Markbass over Eden, but I don't really have anything '' Bad '' to say about Eden. They make good stuff. Not sure how the quality of the products are now, since they were bought out. Kind of like the Fender/SWR Gibson/Trace thing.

I guess the only thing I can complain about is that Eden is a bit pricey for what you get.

PS - Email me my quote!!!

I owned a couple Eden WT400 amps, and actually have another on the way.

I think the Eden sound is great and works well with EBMM basses.

Pete: I have a D212XLT-4 and a D210XST-4 coupled with the WT-550. Each component is great, and together an excellent combination. The cabs are quite efficient. The WT550 is small, light, has a tube front-end and I'm running it at 2 ohm - no problem - pushing 750 watts. The 210 is one of the best 210's out there with great low end and the 212 has a great classic sound with lots of punch. Either cab could be used standalone @ 550 watts. No reliability issues after 1.5 years. I did a lot of research before I bought this rig. I also did a lot of research before I bought my bass .... that's why I have a EBMM HH Stingray!

I was using a 210XLT and a 115 (both Eden) powered by a 350W SS Trace head and it just wasn't working for me. For the longest time, I tried to like the sound but it was just a bit too muddy and fluffy for me. The cabs were too big and deep (and heavy) so I eventually sold them.

I'm now using a MarkBass LMII and two Bergantino 1x12s and am quite happy.

I've owned a 210XST and a 410XLT and very much regret ever getting rid of the 210XST

the XLT series of cab's have always been too farty in the low end for me but the XST series is great! as for amps.... not entirely sure there but you won't go wrong I guess with the WT400 (or is it the WT550 now)... but ya, definitely check out the XST series

The couple of D410XLT cabs I've played in the past farted out way too quick for my playing style. I haven't had any experience with anything else from Eden, though.

Bought a WT1205 at Basscentral last year and took it on the plane back home. They send me a 410XLT via UPS. And it sounds really great with both my SR5 H and HH models! Ordered a 210XST from BS as well and just added it to my rig. It sounds amazing. Both playing solo and with my band. Really great mids and growl coming from the 410XLT and some extra lows from the 210. Just the sound I was looking for!
And it's LOUD! (what?) Before this rig farts out you have to replace all the windows..... :)

So yes! EB basses and Eden amps are a very good combo. (For me and my playing style)

You should have tried the cabs with an Eden head! :)

That's really very true...you see them all the time. Especially on shows such as Late Night, CMAs, etc, etc. The wt800 & D410xlt is pretty much a standard backline rig in Nashville. You probably don't see them on stage locally because, well honestly, it is a bit pricey. I'm the only guy I know with Eden in my town. I'm pretty sure we don't want this thread to turn in Eden bashing or Eden vs. Markbass so we should just leave at this: everyone should go and try an Eden rig if interested. If you like it good. If you don't good. Peace! :)

My bass instructor (who runs the Main Pub's open mic night on Wednesdays) uses an Eden stack and loves it. I haven't personally used Eden equipment, but I've read a few customer service horror stories over the last year or so that would keep me away from Eden Electronics forever.

I just sold my Eden CXC-300 Combo, was equiped with 2 10 inches. It was very loud and bigger in size that the current combo that Eden have right now, so the low B was more able to get out nicely. This was pre-Washburn, made in 2000. I tried a newer model and it doesn't sound as good as the cxc-300.

I get a good amount of money, very satisfied with it for the 2 years I own it. The only thing that was annoying was the fan that made a lot of noise but I was just too lazy to replace it.

So I sold it to buy my Markbass LMII and STD104H. I wanted something more powerful and finally it was lighter :)

I agree with Dave. I have a 2x10 with their original speakers and wish I still had my single 15. A couple of years back I bought a 4x10 and right away I noticed different speakers from looks alone. From there it went down hill. The warmth I loved in my 2x10 was not anywhere near the same quality in the new 4x10. I recently unloaded it for the Markbass 4x10 I have on order. It has a broader frequency response and is lighter so I hope I enjoy it more. Makes me glad I kept my old Goliath 3 pre-Fender though.
