Howdy everyone. I've just recently become turned on by MM instruments. I must say that I am very impressed by the variety in colors offered by Music Man. Yeah, there's the traditional Black, White, Vintage Sunburst etc, etc that every other bass maker offers, but I'm turned on by the colors that nobody else offers.
Egyptian Smoke, Lava Pearl, Buttercream, Black Cherry Burst, Blue Burst & so on & so on. I'ts great to see such a variety offered, now, to just decide which one I like the most.
It's gonna be a Bongo 5, I like the pictures of the Buttercream's & also Sapphire Black & Graphite Pearl I've seen here on the Forum. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Welcome Johnny!

Yes, it's tough with so many great options ... and not just colour, but model, p/u configurations, 2 or 3 EQ, different necks etc.. That's one reason why many forumites have more than one.

I haven't seen an ugly paint job come out of SLO yet.

If you want Buttercream though, you'll have to find a used one or one that's new old stock.. it was a limited edition color and was only available for ordering during 2005. Nice vintagey color, too.

Lava Pearl fretted and Desert Gold fretless, both with two humbuckers and piezo bridge:

Alva, are you a wooten fan or what? I love the hair wraps. I've got em too.

Yes, I'm a big fan, but he's not been an influence in my playing. After knowing his insights on the scrunchies, I found them useful, but I don't try to play his stuff. I like his music so much, but the thing is that I'm not into the double thumping technique because nowadays I don't have enough time to keep a consistent practice schedule (essential if you're trying to get into a completely unexplored territory). If double thumping were popular 14 years ago, I think I'd be (sort of) proficient at it.
