This rare bass is from the early 80’s, pre-EB. As you know, the Cutlass 1 is the same as the Stingray, except with the Modulus-built graphite neck, now known as carbon fiber. Only a few hundred were made back then, and there are damn few of them left around today, especially in the great condition as this one is in.
It has the deep, rich bass tones which Music Man basses are well known for, and it holds sustain for days. It has the four bolt neck and the string thru body, a very unusual combination according to Gav, who says he has only seen one or two. I added a HipShot Bass Extender Key, which allows the player to quickly switch between E and D. However, it should easily reach low C, and even low B.
It was professionally repainted in House of Kolor Candy Apple Burgundy paint. In the pictures it looks black, but when the light hits the paint it actually is the same deep color of Burgundy wine when viewed thru light. Also included is an SKB hard case.
This is a very special vintage bass. I no longer play, and I want to find this a good home where it will be played and enjoyed.
I can email you larger pictures if you want to get a better look.
