Sale? Really? I'd love to make it down there, but I don't know that I need another bass (til the 2 pickup SR5s come out). Time to maybe try the Bongo yet again.

A week later and I'd be there, any chance of one of them coming to New Jersey area? That would be NICE!!!!!

But as the guys said I'd probly have to wait for the 2 Pup sterlings come out, and on the subject of the 2 pup sterlings/rays, does anybody know anything about the pickup placement on them? I'm specifically curious about the neck pup, because the placement of it on the HH bongos kind of annoy me when slapping/popping.

thanks

Mike

The guys at Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center are the best. I buy all my gear through them including my Bongo 4HH. On a day to day basis, I've never found better prices anywhere. Hope to get down for this one.

Nice to see another Jersey boy here, I saw you are from Red Bank, I'm from New Brunswick. And I'm acctually just driving out west in a week, and was sure I could have convinced my fellow road-trippers to make a stop in DC. Oh well, guess I 'll just Stick to NJ Guitar and Bass (Sweet NJ store, With nearly 40 ebmm's in stock :D :D ).

Well, If you stop in now they have quite a few bongos, (but i'm sure you want your custom one asap,) Great store, great guys.

An interesting side note, they sent back all of their preordered bongos with one humbucker and one single coil because the buzz through the amp was apparently way loud. I personally have no experience with this configuration, but they said if they same thing happened with the hummer/single SR's and Sterlings they would also be sent back. Hmmm...

Anway, personally I can't wait for the new models so I can get rid of this s***y 1bAn3z... oh well.

Who told you that? I have not heard anything about this, nor have I seen anything from them in my shop.

Many of us have played those pickup configurations and experienced no problems whatsoever, much less buzz problems. If this is even true, which I doubt, the problem's probably with the amps, not the basses.

Yeah, I have never played the configuration, so I would not know. The guys at the store just told me a short version of a story which I'm sure goes deeper than anything I know.

I really don't meen to start any bad rumors, and since I don't have any first hand knowledge I probably shouldn't be saying anyhthing in the first place. All I know is apparently the guys at NJ G and B did not get exactly what they wanted out of the H-S bongos, and decided not to stock them. If you have questions, I'm sure they would be happy to answer. As for specifics, I've told you all I know.

Sorry to start the rumor, The guys at NJ G and B are really great guys doing a great business.

Regarding the HS Bongos ...

There is a Silent Circuit in the HS version of the Bongo designed to just about eliminate hum caused from the single-coil. New Jersey Guitar & Bass sent a bass back to the factory for that reason, but we were unable to duplicate the problem. Our conclusion was that there are certain incompatibilities with almost anything electronic, and at this point it seems to not be a concern as there are many hundreds of Bongos out with the HS configuration with just two or three complaints.
