Every one has the right to air their opinions, AJ does not like EBMM guitars, so what as BP says you cant please everyone. I cant believe the thread has gone on this long.

Jamie, you're right of course. I just wanted to air my opinion. I personally wish he would have used different language, but there's no law against it.

Ok, I think we can finish here.

The conclusion is simple - everyone has his/her own opinion about guitars and there's no good or bad choice. That choice is not telling anything about the personality of the speaker. And last but not least - it would be nice if our opinion would be express in a way that doesn't offend others.

Thanks for discussion and your opinions guys!

I did find those comments to be a bit harsh. He could have taken the high road and said "EBMM were ok, but these LTDs fit my style better", but he's certainly entitled to his opinion anyway. I'm certainly not taking shots at the guy for doing it.

Let's be honest, we've all played guitars that didn't "work" for us. It happens. For example, I can't get around a Les Paul to save my life. Yet other people seem to do just fine with them.

Heck, one of the guitars I play live is a Parker. Talk about a brand that gets pre-judged! But that thing fits me like a glove and basically plays itself. To me.

But it's all relative. I'm glad the guy found the guitar for him.

Judging from his videos it doesn't seem like the EBMM held him back too much. That's some pretty good playing for sure.

Hello

I don't know Andy James and his music. I am sure that he can play much faster than I can do. His ability with a guitar is beyond doubt.
But he is very unprofessional. In an industry, there is no point to criticize a person / a brand / a company if you have nothing to gain. Perhaps one day, Big Poppa will buy ESP ...
It's always better to stay positive.
Guys like Steve Morse, John Petrucci, Albert Lee ... never say bad things like that, and they have a long career (and I'm sure that they met some very bad guys in the music industry). Who will remember Andy James in 20 years ???

Thus I send him my best wishes to help his karma !

I'm a huge Andy James fan as he has helped me become a better player unlike any other guitarist has via his lick library videos but, I must say I am saddened to hear the way he delivered the negative feedback. There are better ways to say that a particular guitar or brand of guitars just doesn't jive with your chops. I actually did purchase an LTD guitar because of Andy and I've got to say I learned a lot by having the different options that guitar offered but, at the end of the day, I'm still sitting here trying to sell it off to fund my next EBMM guitar because in my opinion, they're much better for my play style and the quality can't be matched for the value.

I'd say let him have his fun with his indentured labor Ltd guitars. Two very different brands, and he played them for years. He's a fool if nothing else for wasting his time. He wants people to buy his guitar, so naturally being positive about another brand just doesn't work very well for that. He could have handled it with more class than this though.

You know what, on second note, I think we're reading too into this here.

I think his reference to "kids toys" was based on their size, not their quality. Lets be real, an axis is a SMALL guitar, the jp isn't exactly a monster either. Given the size and width of the LTD/ESP necks (they are extremely wide), I think he was regarding them in that regard, not "hating". Him referencing "why did I play them so long" quip was probably because he DID enjoy the EBMM a lot and never really gave much thought to getting something else.

To be honest my technique actually improved after getting into MM, easier to get around the neck....

Different strokes mate :) EBMM makes the highest quality, but doesn't mean they are always the "Best" for everyone either. Bob Taylor said it really well... "I don't expect everyone to like the sound of my guitars, but I'll be damned if someone picks up my guitars and say they don't play great!"

My first EBMM guitar was an early JP. I don't think anyone thinks more about technique than JP when designing a guitar.

I found my JP guitar and had very little knowledge of Petrucci. The guitar got me into John Petrucci. That's how good these guitars are. If he doesn't like EBMM, fine, but this is the first time I am hearing of this guy and based on that attitude, I don't like him at all. Has nothing to do with brand loyalty, has everything to do with being an ass. I don't like some brands, but I don't bad mouth them, they are just not for me.

To each his own. I enjoy my EB's and that is all that matters for me. Not gonna bash the guy. His opinion, which I may not agree with, but it is his opinion.

Well not that forum member "Mordimer" did anything wrong but if what was said on James Facebook page wasn't brought to the forum we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Andy always seemed like a very laid back kind of guy and maybe the new hardcore Zack Wylde heavy metal look has brought out another side of him. EBMM guitars cost more in the UK then they do here, which is why I thought he had some endorsement deal with EBMM as the first time I ever seen him he had three JP's including a 7 string and two Axis models. Now if I had a guitar I didn't click with I am not going to buy 5 guitars (that are pretty pricey) consisting of 2 different models? Personally I think what he said was simply business related and basically telling his fans to go buy his LTD sig. Nuff Said on this.
