Hey guys, I've been looking for an unloaded Jp6 for a while without any luck. Other than getting one for cheaper, Im would like to get one with the original custom dimarizos as people seem to prefer them to the CL-LQ combo. I found a store online that has an unloaded brand new one for a little higher price than I'd ideally like to pay but still fair. I was just curious if anyone had experience with both of these models in order to help steer me in either direction. If they are still on the same level of quality or if the compensated nut and SS frets are reason to go for a newer one? Thanks!

This was my first Music Man and yes the quality is the same. The pickups IMO are very different from either the current CL/LF or the new Illuminators. However they have thier own thing which is a good thing. I have never owned a JP that I didnt like, and I have owned a lot of them.

I have both. I love them both. I always play one and think, yep this is my favorite.. then I play the other and Think.. NO THIS is my favorite! This may not help you....

I say play both if you can and decide for yourself, they are both excellent sounding instruments and are very different beasts.

The quality of these instruments are REALLY un-mached. For what it's worth, The old model I have is a 2001 and seems like it has been through hell yet still impresses me every time I pick it up. Fits a feels like an old very worn in glove.

Either way they are great guitars. The build quality is exceptional. The differences being JP wanting to modify some things and EBMM did just that. I love them all to be honest...haha.

The differences are subtle between the older and newer JP6's. Of all the JPs I own, I think I prefer the basic JP6 thank the BFR's. But, there is no quality difference since day one. They are all great. I think I prefer the LF as a neck pickup. Clearer especially when playing lower on the neck.
