Someone mention recently (in the French Guitarist magazine) that this logo looks like a tribute to the Beatles the left handed being Mc Cartney and the right handed either John or George.

Is that true or a pure concidence ? What's the history behing those 2 guys in logo if any...

(the logo displayed here is stolen from pete website :D )

It's funny, you see a pic of 2 guitar players, one left handed and lots of people think about the Beatles. 36 years after they last played together...

Now where is that pic of Sir Paul with his Albert Lee?

Considering that part of the logo has been around since the Leo-era, it certainly could have been a Beatles tribute since the first products came out circa 1974. Of course, the logo has been modernized a bit by EB.

Back in the day (1981-1986) I had a Music Man RD-50 112 amp but don't have any photos, manuals, etc. left. I did turn up this photo of an early 4-10 65 model showing the old logo on the Music Man Amps page:

There is also some history of the amp line and the Leo-era company on that site:

NO tribute to the Beatles...That was just the logo that Tommy walker hired...he used to joke that is was some combination of the ball boys.....but really just cheesy generic art that has endured.

BP - thanks for the info. While it is somewhat generic and cheesy, I should point out that on the old full logo the legs of the two generic players do form an "M" - very 70s.

Not to open other wounds, but I also have an old plain leather strap from about 1980 with the Leo-era logo stamped on it. BP - If and only if it would be cost effective - it would be cool to have a plain leather strap (not one of those fancy ones from the thread that was closed) with the current EBMM logo on it.

You're cruisin' for a bruisin' ;)

No, no, no - I'm talking about just a plain leather strap with either the EB or EBMM logo stamped on it, the type that sells for $15-$20-$25. Selfish reason - my 26-year-old one is just worn out, and I would love a leather logo strap for my inbound AL.:D
