Are there instructions or anyone can help about the 4 screwed holes (mag boost...) on the back?
I think it's just about adjusting to fit your own preference - no absolute rules. I tweaked the bass a little on the piezo preset adjustment to good effect. The piezos also sound good with a sparkly top lift so maybe just experiment?
If unsure maybe return all to a midway point and adjust one at a time till the sound is best and the gain about right for whatever amp you are connecting to.
Mag Piezo Mix especially important if you are in mono mode ( - keep all 3 main controls on max throughout)
I don't imagine it's possible to do any harm.
And yeah, it's a fine playing instrument - unique & musical.
