Hello all!
This is my first post here.
I just purchased my first Music Man guitar second hand from a member of "The Gear Page Forum" where I have been a member for quite some time.
It's a great guitar and I really love the way it feels, however it came shipped to me with .010's on it. When I contacted the seller, he told me that this model comes setup that way from Music Man, and recommended I don't change the gauge.
I only play with .009's so if I decide to keep the guitar I would have to change the string gauge.
Is this not recommended for this model?
Have any of you done this with positive results?
I know I will have to ajust the tremelo spring tention and possibly the bridge, and thats not a problem for me.
Do you think I will have to ajust the truss rod? loosten or tighten?

Thank you!

I've done it on my petrucci. No problems. I'm personally going back to the 10s so I can get a more full tone and play it as it was "meant" to be. But I've experience no problems.... I didhave to adjust the truss though, I loosened it as the lighter strings didn't pull as much and there was a slight hump causeing some dead notes on the higher frets and buzzing on the lower...but after I lossened the truss (about 180 degrees) no buzz or dead notes...

Congrats on the guitar ,BTW. Maybe consider 10's in the future to get the most tone out of your instrument.

I recommend that you keep with the .010's... I did exactly what you are saying and went back to the .010's. Better tone and feel...
