>>>no it does not say anything on the headstock (back) the front has the "Ernie Ball" above "Music" in MusicMan, then "StingRayBass"....I guess thats the trans logo?

It was around this time that the rear decal first appeared.

Have I got the dates right? U.S. dating is back to front compared with Aust/Europe dating.

U.S. 02/04/1987 = 4 Feb 87.

Aust/Europe 02/04/1987 = 2 Apl 1987.

Yeah, I'm in the US, forgot Aust/Europe used a different way of typing the dates.

Its Feb. 4th 1987 for the body and March 2nd 1987 for the neck

florin,

Your SR5 in Blueburst (as we called it then) has a poplar body and was completed on
6/15/92.

This one brings back memories ... my very first Music Man bass was exactly like this one. Don't let yours go like I did!

Cheers,

Dan

DOB of my new Stingray?

DOB of my new Stingray please?
Natural finish, maple neck, tort pickguard, 3 EQ, E46148

Body appears to be ONE Piece of beautiful ash :)

Love the tone and playability! I've wanted a Stingray for years!
(It joins my 1966 P-bass, 1983 P-bass, and 1981 G&L L-1000.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

shastaband,

Congrads on your new StingRay. Yes, I have to say, unbiased of course, that our natural ash finishes are quite beautiful because only the best bodies are selected for Natural, hence the upcharge. Yours was completed just a scant few weeks ago and sent to Jason and company at Pianos & Stuff in Pittsburgh, PA on 4/21/05. Sweet!

Gavin, That's a lot of serial numbers! None of these are showing up in our standard database, but that only goes back to about 1987. I take it these are very early EBMM. I will do some further research as there is time.
