I have a MM Silhouette with the rectangle neck joint piece of metal. the serial number is 89103. Was wondering what year it was made and how much it's really worth. It's got a natural finish and a maple FB and neck. Any help would be much appreciated.

May 30th, 1990, Translucent Red... Unfortunately we do not have information regarding the wood used on the body. Rosewood fretboard though.

When did stainless steel frets become standard on all JP models?

This JP was completed on May 18th, 2009. Any JP that was ordered at NAMM 2013 or later would have stainless steel frets. With that said, in terms of production, there isn't a definite cut off. May 2013 and beyond should have stainless steel frets though, as a general rule of thumb.
