oli, nice find! This StingRay 20th Anniversary bass was completed on 5/31/96 and was shipped to Rockin' Robin Guitars in Houston. There were about 1250 of these basses made.

nice ;)

Dan

Hey, Dan, thanks. Funny , it was made 10 years and 1 day apart from my 30th...

As it's the only bass left in the house, it might be nice to know all I can about it.

Mike, let me see - (does his best Karnac impersonation) - I would say that you just bought a piezo-equipped Natural StingRay 5 fretless with lines from Bass Central. Your bass was completed on 5/1/07. Oh - and you had corn flakes for breakfast! :D

Wow! How'd you do that?? Thanks a bunch :D.

Interested to note that it still has the older style soapbar pickup. It must be one of the last!? When abouts did the new pickups start coming out in the Stingray 5?

Oh and can you please tell me if the tort pickguard is what shipped from the factory?

Thanks for that :)

I'd convinced myself it must be older than that, but looking back through my gig photos etc. I must have bought it quite soon after it was made (no idea how it got to the UK though) as I'd certainly gigged it by 29th Aug 2005.

Mike, yes, the tortoise shell pickguard is factory-installed. I think the reason you have a soapbar-shaped pickup made months after we changed the pickup design (10/06) and switch location is due to the fact that your bass has a piezo, and we probably wanted to use the NOS pickguards before starting to use the new ones (we don't make near as many piezo basses as non-piezos). Nothing else is different though, no worries. ;) ....

DOB Please

What is the DOB of my "new" (to me, anyway) lined fretless SR4? Natural body, black pickguard, 3 EQ, Pau Ferro fingerboard, beautiful birds-eye maple neck, Flea bridge with mutes, serial number 36333. Thanks in advance!

Wow, shasta, sweet bass - the neck is incredible! Your bass was completed on 12/08/92 and was originally shipped to the old Thoroughbred Music in Tampa, Florida.

Hi Dan, I meant to get round to dating my old 2 EQ (serial#36224) some time ago and my new purchase (serial#E46451) has finally given me the impetus to do it. Well, to ask you to do it I mean.

Much thanks in advance if you can give me DoBs for both of these!

Hi there. A friend has a black Stingray 4 that I might buy from him. But he doesn´t know what year it is. The serial number is:

E36547

Would be great to get some info about it. I have another 7 Stingrays but I won´t bother you guys with that since I know pretty much all there is to know about them already. :)

Great thanks.

Sincerely//Jan - Sweden
