Year of Mfg request

Hi,

I have a Sterling, serial #F06827, was wondering if you could tell me the year of manufacturing. It's an metallic orange 4 string with natural headstock.

Thanks!

Hey Dan...

Would like to know the Birthday of Stingray #5!!

A beautiful SR5 20th Ann HS #F20693

Also, are there production #'s available for the 20th's? (How many of each option were produced?...or total #?)

Thanks in advance!

I would like some info on my SR5 please.

Im guessing 1997 shiped somewhere in Texas.

stingray 5: 59991

Im also not sure what color it is, Pearl Teal, or Trans Teal.

Also, is there a difference between the SR5s with the E seiral numbers and the ones without the E prefix?

EX 56159 vs E00053

Hi There: I'm trying to put a date and, if possible, original color on a MUSIC MAN STINGRAY. It's got a 4 bolt neck, no "made in the usa" on the plate, and is SERIAL NUMBER 26769. My tech thinks its somewhere in the 1988-90 range, but I want to confirm.

Also, inexplicably, the bass was stripped of its paint. I'd like to restore, so if there's anyway to pin down it's original color (no likely), that'd be great too.

Cheers,
Joe Black

Doug, your beautiful 20th Anniversary StingRay was one of less than 75 made in that configuration. It was made on 7/31/07 and it was shipped to Bass Central.

Oh, and there were less than 110 made in the H configuration, and around 150 made in the HH configuration, just about 335 total.

tycho,

Here's the deal on the StingRay 5 serial numbers, and really, all EBMM instruments: When we first started making instruments, in the earliest days, we used a simple 5-digit serial number. Though there were some variations on other instruments, all StingRay 5's started with the number 5. Later, starting in 1998 and since, we have used a letter prefix - some A's, some D's, and for a long time now, E's on both the StingRay and StingRay 5, along with the 5 digits.

The serial numbers were not meant to represent anything in and of themselves; there is no special date codes built into the serial numbers, it is simply a means of recording instruments and their specifications and build dates, etc., etc.

Anyway, what was the original question? oh --- your bass was indeed completed on 1/16/98 and was originally shipped to Guitar Center #231 in Seattle. It is simply a Translucent Teal (Teal Pearl wasn't introduced till 2001), so you should be able to see the woodgrain.

Joe, your StingRay with a 2-band EQ and a 4-bolt neck was completed on 1/7/88 and was sent to the old Nuncies Music Store in L.A. The original finish was Sunburst (now referred to as Honeyburst). It had a solid maple neck.

Good Luck -

Johnny, welcome! Your StingRay was completed on 9/20/90 and was shipped to the London Guitar Shop in London, Ontario. The finish was (and is) simply called Natural. We show it as having a fretless board with no lines.
