t0t0, welcome to the Forum and congratulations to your new (at least to you) StingRay. Natural Velvet was a very cool finish indeed. This bass was completed on 10/09/97

Just wondered if you know at all, but at the time, the shop I bought it from reckoned it was the first translucent purple in the UK... is that true, or just a overexcited salesman hamming it up?
:D

Cheers again.

Sorry so long getting back to your question, but this takes a lot of research. Turns out your salesman was correct, the bragging rights to the earliest-built StingRay in Trans purple is the one you have ... or had, if you've already sold it.

There was a second one built and sent to the U.K a few weeks later. There were less than 50 StingRays built in this finish total.

Hello,

Used Trans Teal SR4 rosewood S/N E43905 just crossed Atlantic Ocean.
Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time,

Jef, your new-to-you bass was built on 10/22/04 and was originally shipped to a store called Music Land USA on Long Island, New York (now OOB).

Jens, even though this IS the bass side, occasionally we service guitar owners as well .... your Axis Trans Gold was completed on 08/14/97 and was originally shipped to Germany.

Oh .. and by the waay, a warm welcome to the wacky Forum! :D

Year Of The Bass

Greetings

Newbie, just joined.

I have a 90's Stringray, natural finish with a maple fingerboard. Serial number is B027247. What year was it made?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum Reggie.

No official records exist for the early EB Sting Rays with the "B" serial numbers. However, comparing your serial with others similar numbers, your Bass appears to be 1988...especially if the headstock logo is solid Black and the two little Musicmen are shown from the waist up only :)
