E34355 bought from BassNW in 2006

Sunburst / Fretless

Your StingRay 5 in Tobacco Burst with a lined fretless 'board and matching headstock was completed on 11/12/02 and was originally shipped to Rock City Music in Spokane, WA (now OOB). I presume it was traded in to Bass Northwest at some point, or maybe Bass NW bought some of Rock City's old inventory ...

Hi There,
I have two basses that I would love to have as much info as possible.
1. SR5 trans teal Maple 52760
2. SR5 Fretless trans red? 55120 (possibly owned by someone famous)

Thanks,
Marc

Marc, OK here is the scoop on your basses ..

52760 - built on 9/10/92, shipped to New Jersey Guitar & Bass Center in Edison, NJ
55120 - built on 6/24/94, Trans Red Fretless Lined, originally shipped to Sam Ash Music in White Plains, NY - where it went from there we don't know, other than you have it now.

And welcome to the Forum!

Dan

Mike, you indeed have a Sterling. The specs are: Natural Ash finish, solid maple neck, shell pickguard. Originally was shipped to GC on 08/10/07.

Uwe, your 2-band EQ in Silver Sparkle STTB Rosewood-fretboard bass was built on 10/30/01 and was shipped to our German distributor, Musik Meyer. This was part of a special run we did for them at that time.

Thanks Dan. It now resides all the way across the country in little ol' Lawrenceburg KY. just outside of the state capital.

Thanks Dan for the very quick information! Can you tell me, how many of these stingrays were built for the special run?

Hi Guys, total newbie first post here! Looking to get some info on my 4 & 5 string Stingrays. Bought them a few years ago on Ebay so I'm hoping they're legit. SR5 serial is E44276 and SR4 serial is 44591. Thanks!

Guess I asked for that one -

OK - after painstaking research - (about 5 minutes' worth) I found the answer:

There were about 45 made for that run - of those there were 8 or so in Silver Sparkle, all with rosewood board, matching headstock.

There were also apx. 20 black ones, 7 Gunsmoke ones, and 8 white ones. I know it doesn't quite add up to 45 (did the math). We are intentionally vague about exact numbers, keeps us out of trouble. ;)

Welcome Kieranbass! Here's the info:

E44276 - StingRay 5, Natural Ash, maple neck, shipped originally to Bass Central
44591 - StingRay (4), Natural Velvet Ash, Rosewood board, shipped to Manny's Music, NY.

"too legit to quit"

Cheers

Thanks 5Stringer! Both basses now reside in Ireland, seems they're well travelled! I thought the 4 string had a more "blonde" appearance to it than it's 5 string brother, the velvet ash would explain that I presume? Also any dates of birth/shipment for them?
