Hi,

I wonder if you might be able to help please?

I have a Purple Musicman Stingray 5 with piezo pups and what seems to be a pearlescent scratchplate.

It's serial number is E19282.

Do you by any chance have any information about it please, ie, dob, where it went first.. but whatever you have would be fascinating.

Below is a link to some pics of it.

Many thanks in ancticipation.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris and welcome!

Your SR5 was done on December 19, 2000 and it was originally sent to Strings & Things, our distributor in the UK

Hi there...I just discovered your forum and love all the MM info. I have a MM Stingray I purchased used sometime in the late 80's (1987 if my failing memory serves me right) from Bill's Music House in Catonsville, Md. She has a black finish and pickguard, maple neck with no back label, four bolt neck (no made-in-USA on plate) and what appears to be a pre-EB bridge. The bass did not have it's original case and still lives in the Fender case that it came with. I'd love to know the exact birth date (as close as possible) for my bass. The serial # is B023628...if that does not seem correct I can loosen the strings to get a better look at the bridge. Other basses have come and gone, but this is the one I would never part with.

Thanks for any help and for your great forum!

New Stealth Bass on the Way

Just ordered my 10th EBMM Bass (from Beaver at Bass Central). Would appreciate DOB information for: Stingray 4H, Stealth, Ebony fingerboard, Serial #E74599. Thanks in advance

Bass should arrive next week. Here's the pic from Bass Central's website (no pic, no bass, right?):

Помогите разобраться. Решил проверить дату выпуска своего MM Stingray. по серийному номеру. На сайте указана дата 06.08.1996, а на грифе стоит штамп 24.06.1996. Номер B 03513. С уважением, Сергей.

I'm considering the purchase of a used Big Al SN# F24885. I'm wondering if you could tell me DOB and most importantly the body wood.

Also - Is there a known serial number break point from alder Big Al to mahogany Big Al?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These both sound like Pre-EB basses, so check out this site for more info:

We do not have the Pre-EB serials in our database

DOB: 4/29/09 This one would be Alder. There is not a specific serial number break point. We started making the bodies out of mahogany as of the NAMM show of this year (January 2010)

Thanks for the info and the link...from what I found this is a transitional early EB MM, using one of the pre-EB bridges. These were used from 1985-1988 on EB Stingrays. From the dates on other, I would guess mine is closer to 1985-1986. Here are a few pics...the headstock shows the early EB transitional logo, circa 1985-1987.

Serial # lookup

Looking for info on a USA Sterling: F06804

Please let me know body wood, color type. Also, do the neck & body have a serial on them, or just the neck plate?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome! This Sterling was done on February 21, 2003. The body wood is Ash and the color is called Desert Gold. The serial number will only be stamped on the neck plate.

Hi, I'd like very much to find out the DOB on my two EBMM's.

Sterling 4H, #F13233 March 7, 2005

Stingray 4H, #E28232 January 31, 2002

Thanks,
Yango.
