I don't seem to play my SUB1 all that often as I have a few others to play. But, it is a great guitar - solid design, and in my opinion, very nice pickups. I am saving it for my 11 year old son in hopes he wants to start playing...... although he has recently expressed interested in bass guitar. Oh well, better than a drummer. :D

Ok I got my sub a couple of weeks ago. IMO it has a slightly different feel but I do need to get a set up done. To me it does not sound as "woody" as my other balls. For me the bridge pup is ok but the neck one is not to my taste.

Its a great guitar that I am going to customize !!!

This thread gives me an idea. I love the idea of turning a Sub 1 into a Y2D-like layout!

It works for me.

My three way toggle gives me JP6 switching options, from the Air Norton and D Sonic; I can then pull the tone push/pull, and I get the single DiMarzio for ultra clean tones, at a reduced level than the combined centre position from the humbuckers split.

Some good looking Subs out there. I'm surprised nobody is discussing the fact that the Sub 1 body looks to be the same as the Steve Morse model. Other than the different bridge options and the less sculpted heel, are there any other differences?

There was a guy who had a Sub 1 project back in May 2009. He was adding body contours to the body and refinishing it. I was surprised to see that the body was solid poplar considering the low cost of a Sub 1. Most guitars in this price range have laminated bodies. Does anybody know how it turned out? Hi Mike - could you point me to who did your custom pickguard (the Judas Priest's look)? I am looking to transform a 1 humbucker cinnamon one I have, and if I could get a black or gunmetal grey version with the bigger designs such as you, it would be great. Thx.
