If your store had a maple fretboard fiver in stock when I was in there I might've picked that up instead of the passive SUB5. :D

Still, this SUB5 is an amazing quality bass. Sad to hear it has to go but you already have a multi-month backlog on the spendier (more profitable) basses so it makes sense to stop supplying these.

Maybe I'll bring in a maple board 5 stringer someday...

mine's a tad battered and bruised, but i'm glad i've got a part of EB history

i love my SUB to bits and like so many here, it was where my appreciation for great instruments and fine craftmanship began

thanks EB...

the SUB Sterling will be a rare bass in years to come I'll wager
indeed it will be, i was actually considering getting one, and a couple times i was very close, but the guy i deal with at guitar center got the sterling i have now to just a little over a $1000 so i couldnt pass that up.

as many have said its unfortuante that this line has to go, but it works the same in auto parts to, when the economy line is hurting the company it has to go or else the better part lines will be affected, who knows maybe in years to come it will be reintroduced....you know never right

Sorry to hear that ; I was considering a SUB before I heard about the soon to come Bongo and decided (after reading elogious test report, especially from Jack Bovine) to spare some more money to give it a try. For the price, SUBs were a real good deal.

Thanks though

I'm sad to see the end of the Sub Basses. But....It pushed me to go ahead and buy a passive sub stingray 4 before they are sold out. What a fantastic instrument! Had I tried this to start with, I might not have bought the Sterling! Well, maybe it's just a good thing that I felt enough pressure to buy the SUBs in addition to the Sterling! I also have a SR SUB5 active and it is also incredible.

They may be a little less pretty in comparison with the sterling, but I love my subs.
Thanks for the great products. I'm a believer!
