I read over on the Bass forum a posting where Jon said that the FAQ will be getting some attention after NAMM and it's related craziness are over.

I don't know who's ear this needs to reach, but I really think the Music Man site could use some updating as well. So I'm going to pitch some ideas here, just in case one of the correct 'powers that be' might trip over this thread.

1) the instrument builder needs to be updated with lots of pics so that you can look at any instrument that can be configured. It also needs to include all of the instruments offered, like the Bongo , the Benji Madden sig, the SUB basses & guitars, all of which are missing now.. plus whatever new stuff is introduced at NAMM.

2) it could save a lot of Jon's time if a minimalist version of the serial # database could be available online to users. Just something where you enter the serial# and get back the basics: model, original color, date made.. it would be great if more detail was available, like options that were included, but anything would be good.

3) if there is some way to get the dealer inventory updated on a somewhat regular basis, that would be awesome. I don't know how this works at the moment, but it sure would be nice to call a store about a guitar that they still have. ;)

4) add a 'history eraser button' to the site.. a la Ren & Stimpy.

I guess #4 isn't as critical as the rest.

Hello, fellow EBMM gear whores! :p I come from the bass section with news that the EBMM website will be updated like the EB main site was come this Spring! There's a post about it somewhere deep in the bass forums, but I'm too lazy to find it. :p

The serial number thing would be great...I know the Tom Anderson Guitar site has this and it works wonderfully......besides, it would definitely help jon out who goes out of his way to get us that info.....thanks a million bro!

The build an instrument page needs to be updated big time....agreed. Need some better pics of the colors too.....

These are great ideas, hopefully they can be implemented into the site. If not, oh well. Life will go on.

Dealer online inventory management is the responsibility of the dealer, unless they don't have access, in which case the appropriate method of control would be to call EB and have them remove the sold instruments. I try to pull sold instruments off my inventory the day they go out the door.....I guess some people maybe forget?

...but if you redid the website for them, then what would the Web/IT group do...would you send them to lunch? ;)

more ideas

I can't remember if this is already buried somwhere in the existing site, but some other guitar manufacturers have their price list available online. We're talking MSRP here and not street prices. Generally, you can see the instrument prices, and the prices of the available options (in our case, piezos, trems, matching stocks, etc.) I always like pricing guitars this way because it makes me appreciate the street price more!

EBMM should seek permission to post on the EBMM site that article from whatever guitar magazine it was with the nice factory tour.

Maybe EBMM could get their signature artists to record some samples [in MP3 format] of their signature guitars being put through their paces? This would be really cool! Listening to Morse demo all of those pickup configurations! Wow! Albert Lee twangin' those single coils, Vinnie shredding an Axis.. and Petrucci flipping between piezo and mags for your listening pleasure.

And if Jon would be willing, it would be awesome if the site had video content of a great tech demonstrating how to properly set-up and care for these awesome instruments.

Oh, yeah.. and Jardineros de Muerte on EB radio 24/7 !

Wow, I'm on a roll now... ;)

I would love to see the build a guitar section updated. When I wanted to check out a Sil Special, I could only get about 3 colours and none of them had a picture with piezo so I had to order it blind without knowing exactly how the controls were going to be laid out (the wiring diagrams etc were not available at that stage on the site). Hot chicks modelling the guitars like the Steve Stevens website gets my vote too...

I still think the serial number look up is a good idea, like the Jackson site has! Jon are you with me on this one!

When Ernie does the battle of the bands they require submissions of music. Perhaps the forum members could have space for an mp3 as well. So when people want to hear an example what a specific guitar sounds like it would be there for them. I would suggest that the songs be original solos only. The type of guitar (EBMM only of course), amp, and any effects used should be listed. Place the links under the avatars. Also, perhaps this should be a requirement for senior membership on the board. :)

I like NorM's idea, but I think we could post/listen to more than just solos. What if someone wants to hear the piezo? I'd much rather hear it strummed or flatpicked or fingerpicked than to hear it soloed.

Just a two-cent reflection on the subject.

bumping for BP

I'm bumping this thread in hopes that Big Poppa might have a look at it and give some thoughtful reflection. I think there are some great, really constructive ideas in this thread.

I agree with a lot of what's been mentioned already. You should be able to pull up a guitar in different color combos. You should be able to hear how they sound. Having a section with videos on how to do things like change strings, intonate, how to use the piezo, using the volume pedal etc. would be very cool.

I'm big on video too.

I love the clips of Petrucci working on his sig guitar. Love to see videos of other endorsees doing walkthroughs of their sig models.
