>>>What is a Wiki anyway?

Exactly

A wiki (IPA: [ˈwiː.kiː] <wee-kee> or [ˈwɪ.kiː] <wick-ey>[1]) is a type of website that allows users to add, remove, or otherwise edit and change most content very quickly and easily, sometimes without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for collaborative writing. The term wiki can also refer to the collaborative software itself (wiki engine) that facilitates the operation of such a website (see wiki software), or to certain specific wiki sites, including the computer science site (and original wiki), WikiWikiWeb, and the online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia.

The first wiki, WikiWikiWeb, is named after the "Wiki Wiki" line of Chance RT-52 buses in Honolulu International Airport, Hawaii. It was created in 1994 and installed on the web in 1995 by Ward Cunningham, who also created the Portland Pattern Repository. "Wiki-wiki" means "fast" in Hawaiian.

from wikipedia.com (imagine that?!?)

I go to the library for an encyclopedia, not the wikiweb.....

You know steve I tend to agree with you. When my dad died someone posted the wrong city of birth, city of death and cause of death. I tried to chane it and got chastising messages. Thats why I just didnt edit the Music man piece.

Same thing happpened to me BP. They had misinformation about me on there a few months ago and had me listed as the Education Director of School of Bass. Not only is that pretty funny when you think of it but it was kind of a slap to Ed Friedland. I went in to edit it and got a nastygram and now my IP address is blocked from editing on there. Now I don't see anything on there regarding SOB at all.

Oh well.

AOLs a pain as far as IPs go.... some users even end up showing up w/ multiple IPs during the same session.

Are these the same people that stand outside in the Financial District, mumbling to themselves?

This is the most important and admirable part of the article to me:

In 2001, Sterling Ball decided to institute a living wage at the plant. The entry level wage would be $10.10 per hour. One third of the then current workforce of 226 people got for a raise. He cited the need to attract and retain quality employees, and the moral responsibility to provide his employees with a decent income. Fewer than twenty percent of the residents in San Luis Obispo county can afford to buy a house. He had this to say in a New Times interview concerning the decision, "It's contrary to a lot of traditional business theories, I know, but I did it because it's the right thing to do, fundamentally."

Kudos to you Big Poppa for having the guts to do this in a time when American companies are selling out ethics for profit. Yet another reason to love Ernie Ball Musicmans.
