Yes, Kings X, Sacrament, DT, Ra, all great music. I saw Ra last year and even though the singer had the flu, he sounded exactly like he does on the album. After the show we caught him coming off the bus and he sounded like he was dying, but he still came over and talked and signed some stuff for us, really cool guy, way better musician. His description of Ra is the most fitting I've ever heard, "Familiar yet different". I used to call it Egyptian Korn Police haha

Another good band to check out would be The Butterfly Effect, kind of Chevelle-ish, from Australia as well.

And theres this one band called Meshuggah...

Right on! Sahaj is very down to earth like that.

I love ya man!

Actually, I've been digging the new Ry Cooder album Chavez Ravine...it is not a guitar album by any means, but just cool, classy Ry doing everything from big band spy music to his warped mariachi and Afro Cuban stuff with guitars!

Also, I've been on a Mike Patton binge again with the new Tomahawk album and the older Dillinger Escape Plan, Irony is a Dead Scene getting some play. If you like fast, chaotic, heavy, creepy stuff, the DEP album they did with Mike is simply the most ferocious music I think I have ever heard. It makes most normal metal and death metal sound like the Mr. Rogers theme music...those guys really need counseling.

Been listening to Tool's 10,000 Days recently... Really nice tone...
Some Rusty Cooley too, some out-of-this-world-chops this guy has... Just crazy...

Ooooh Phil Keaggy. If I only had an ounce of talent from his non-existent right middle finger I'd be happy.

DT's Systematic Chaos is pretty good, much more lyrical solos than in the past.

I've also been digging the tune "Foetus of a New Day Kicking" from Cradle of Filth's last album. Dani sings melody on this one which is pretty interesting. I also liked Nymphetamine.

+1

Since I enjoy it maybe I need counseling too???;)

Also I've been listening to Dream Theater, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Weather Report and Jaco's solo albums a lot lately.

And I consider Aaron Copland as one of the great American composers. Check him out!

And of course always Mark Knopfler.:)

If you like prog-rock you might want to check out CIRCA - and new band of all ex-YES members. I know Jimmy Haun isn't technically an ex-YES man, however it was his very good guitar playing that graced most of the Yes Union disc.
