Most of my EBMMs have the oil/wax finish on the necks. A few have the hard finsish (e.g. JP BFR). I do not notice the difference when I switch from one to the other. All I notice is that all EBMM necks are consistently comfortable.
 
Very interesting, my Les Pauls are the only guitars that EBMM can't replace in my arsenal. My only issue is that one of the wonderful things about the Les Paul configuration is the dual vol/tone knob arrangement. I can do an entire three-set night in the middle position just using the knobs to mix and blend the pups. I would love to a similar setup on an EBMM some day, even a blend knob like the Bongo.

But, hell, this thing looks so cool I'll have to get one anyways. Can't wait to experience it in person.

One question: does it have a fatter '50s-style neck profile??? (please...)

Enjoneer here- I know I haven't been around much lately.... but it's for good reason. Me and the rest of the Music Man team have been hard at work on the new Armada Guitar and take my word for it- IT IS INCREDIBLE!

Here are a few teaser shots of the NAMM Show instruments we are making right now in our brand new Haas VF5-XT. Nothing but the most cutting edge equipment for this new beauty!

...the necks look very square. Are they sanded and shaped by hand from this point, or back onto a machine?

Think about how inconsistent each neck would be if they were hand sanded fro here.
 
Ahh, good point.

I once spoke with the foreman from the Guild guitar factory here in Rhode Island (now closed). He told me that the workers would sand the necks by hand on a stationary sander. He said if the ladies working the line got engrossed in conversation, the necks ended up being thinner than usual.
 
At this point in the process they are waiting to get the body binding put on. The three on the right are done. After the binding is glued on and cleaned up all of these guitars will go back into the CNC to have the neck carved as well as all of the rest of the features on the back on the instrument.

So most of the shaping of the neck will be done by the CNC so that they will all be consistent. Our sanding department will then remove all the machining marks so that the necks are as smooth as butter!

Seriously? I didn't think it was that bad but I've removed it anyway to save you doing it.
 
Thanks, bro! I'm gonna discuss this with the other moderators anyway and see what they think but if it wasn't the Guitar World cover, I'd have nuked it in a heartbeat.

Anyway, back to our regular programming. What an awesome guitar! :D
