Hi.....Everyone.....

well its good to see some new things were released from Ernieball MUSICMAN....
I'm surprise to see that finally EBMM created a 6 string bass...
since I am 5 string bass player and one of John Myung's fans (coz he uses The BONGO now), and I wanted to purchase the EBMM BONGO 6....but, I have some questions in my mind...and here's how it goes:

1. I've notice that the BONGO 6's neck were made from one piece maple wood w/rosewood fretboard and a single truss rod. question is: is it strong enough??
will the neck be twisted or warped easily???

2. as you've notice that, most of the bass manufacturer made their 6 string bass neck with multi laminated woods and double truss rods or single lam wood w/graphite neck support system in order to make a very strong and reliable bass neck. So, why does EBMM made the BONGO 6 neck with only a single piece of maple wood????? why not a multi laminated neck???

3. is there any neck reinforcement system inside the neck??...ye know, like graphite neck reinforcements and stuffs.....

that's all folks....I hope you guys can help me......

Can't answer for EBMM but I had a custom 6 built with a single truss and didn't have any difficulties... I am sure EBMM wouldn't release it unless they were confident in its design

I think about a hundred different answers flew through my head as I was reading this. Unfortunately, I'm getting older and starting to realize that sarcasm isn't always appreciated.

EBMM is famous for building quality instruments...

Properly selected wood with a single truss rod is more than suitable to make a 6 string bass neck. In fact there's plenty of people that will argue that since the mass of wood used to make a 6 string bass neck is greater than that used to make a 4 string, the 6 string neck will be more stable.

The way it is

I understand the question and interest, but I just can't imagine Big Poppa and his wizards unleashing anything that wasn't surely top drawer and worthy of all the trust in the brand names under the main man's name Ernie Ball. this is surely a family and company we can count on to engineer and create top quality products that will serve musicians and stand the tests of time:cool::)

my Bongo 5 has a one piece neck... the bass has traveled quite a bit continentally and inter-continentally, has had every type/gauge/tension of strings on it at some point, has had the finish shaved off of the neck by me, and shows NO SIGNS of fatigue or anything other than stellar build quality.

...and yes, ALL of the strings come off before I put the new ones on, so it's also withstood the dreaded "OMG!! all of the strings off!!??!!!??!! it'll warp!!!!" myth.

when those who know wood, engineer products made from wood and then cut wood for those engineered products.... they do it right and know what they're doing. ;)

sorry if that sounds glib but it's late and I hate to see this turn into a TB type of thread.

Well, I think that BP should give this guy what he wants......

Make him a Bongo 6 with a cast iron neck, covered in grapite, with 6 truss rods... one for each string!

I KNEW something was missing at NAMM!!

Please read this guys profile. Sounds to me like he's just joined the forum to bash MM's. Looks a little fishy to me...

Take another look, and notice his location. Could well be that English is not his native language, so maybe cut Manel some slack. His profile seems very normal for a 20 year old living in Indonesia :D
