I recently bought a Musicman EX off eBay and I was wondering if there is anyone who has more information about these basses?

I know they're all made in Japan with genuine parts, maar what else can I find about this?
Very interested, and I can't wait until mine gets here.
I already own two US Stingrays and I'm wondering how the EX will compare to them.

Serials are not traceable right?

It's a wood/natural with maple neck, 3 band EQ.

I have one and it's my current main (and currently only) Stingray. I've had several USA Stingrays (and the USA SUB) and the EX is pretty much the same thing. EX have the 90s 3 band preamp/pickups which are super awesome for that aggressive rock/funk/punk thing.

The differences from the USA model are - the maple fretboard has a poly finish on the top (instead of oil&wax), but has the usual oil&wax finish on the back of the neck. The shape of the neck heel is slightly different (slightly more rectangular VS the more shaped down, slimmer heel of the USA models) - I'm sure most people haven't even noticed that, but I've compared USA to EX side to side when I had them both at the same time.

That's pretty much it. The back of the headstock doesn't have any country of origin stamp. It's the same USA hardware, electronics and pickups, with woodwork and finishing done in Japan. It was cheaper for them to import Stingrays that way, and they were meant for the Japanese market only back then.

Mine is an absolute live beast, weighing only 8.5 lbs and it sounds incredible, like a proper 90s Stingray machine.
