MM Floyd's are great!

I usually don't even pick up a Floyded guitar (yeah I'm a bit of a snob; I'm working on it) but the past few times at my local music store; Oshawa Long & McQuade (good people)I tried out an Axis and noticed the quality of the Floyd compared to what I remember and was really impressed with how "solid" the unit looks. Top notch for sure. Why am I surprised...it is a MM after all.

Tried some other floyded guitars after and yup...this is a quality unit for sure.

I've never had a problem with the Floyd in my Axis. I'd like to try the MM vintage and the Petrucci tremolos. Everybody here likes them even more than the Floyd

The one in the Petrucci is great. The cover that facilitates palm muting is also an ingenious invention. The trem on the Luke is also nice but not as ergonomic as the one on the Petrucci.

That being said I still prefer the feel of a Floyd and it goes especially well on the Axis. For me, I can palm mute more accurately and comfortably on the Floyd and I had a problem with my pinky scraping the high E string when muting the low E string with the Petrucci trem.

I agree, my Axis has one of the best (if not THE best) LFRT that I've ever played - and it fits this guitar perfectly, whereas sometimes on other guitars it seems to be incongruent with the rest of the guitar.

Most people have a gripe with the time you spend restringing but I timed myself and can do it properly in around half an hour. I find that the fact it rests on the body helps a lot too. They are definitely the best Floyd systems on any guitar I've played.
