Hello,
I've pretty much come to the conclusion that for me, The Musicman/Gallien Krueger match is one that wins all the way around. My StingRay 4 HH through my GK1001RBII and a newly added GK NEO212 is the best tone I've come across to date. And that's both in and out of a band context. I run the head pretty much flat with Boost at noon, Contour and Presence to taste and a slight bass boost on the StingRay and it's tight, punchy, growly with booty. I really favor the two outer coils the most. It's a JazzRay and although I could kick myself for not finding this match up sooner, I really feel that after all these years I've finally found my tone. I know there's a lot of Markbass/Musicman love here and on other forums, but for me, there's just something about a MM/GK marriage that really makes me want to play, and makes me enjoy playing even more. It's all subjective and we all have our different tone goals and requirements, but once you find the gear that works for you, it sure is a wonderful feeling.
Thanks for letting me share.
