i was using my GK 1001rbII with 2x GK neo 2x12 (I usually use one cab, but I'll bring 2 if it's a big room or outdoors gig)..

..but now I have switched to using my trusty GK 800rb into the GK neo 212 cabs instead. I really thinK rounds out the tone much better, and give a little more punch in the mids. Sounds f'n amazing!!!

GK was definately made for EBMM basses = perfect fit.

although I do suggest using a compressor/limit between the bass and the amps input (especailly on a GK 1001rbII because you can spike and harshly overdrive the head's input). EBMM basses have hotter output, and the pad on the GK is too drastic, so all you need is a little limiting and a few db less volume to the input, and everything works fine. I use a Zoom B2 for a medium limit effect, works like a champ and no more spikes that blow speakers.

i once had the Ampeg 4x10 classic cab. hated it, and it hated me. My V sting was unplayable through it, fart fart fart. if you play a V string the only 10" cab I can suggest from Ampeg is the 8x10 fridge, and nothing else.

+1 Avatar cabs are cool, try their neo cabs 2x12, and you can personalize the toltex to many colors.. cool

I just bought a LMII last night at Guitar Center, what I was wondering is what cab y'all recommend? I was looking at an Ampeg Classic 4X10 4ohm cab. I was wondering if there were a less expensive route to take?

I've run my LMII into my Ampeg 4-10 cabinet and it sounds MASSIVE. I've become quite happy with the Markbass cabinet(s), though, and every time I go to move the Ampeg cabs, I think, "Nah."

But if you're not going up and down stairs, that combo will sound amazing.

I got the 8 ohm 210 Markbass cab it sounds terrible with my Bongo...please help!

Really? I have been using a Bongo/LMII/Mb2-10 cab a LOT lately for rather quiet rehearsals, but it still has balls enough if things get rowdy.

How do you have your controls set on the LMII?

I would just like to propose a new rule that Travis not be allowed to post any gear until he's owned it for at least 1 year...what a whore...:D

Nice Travis, glad to see you made your way back to GK. I played a 5 hour cover band gig last weekend with my Bongo 4HH,1001RBII and Avatar Neo 410(4ohm) and it sounded incredible. First time with that particular combination and I have to say it was probably the best tone i've ever had. I had the Bongo's volume mabye 60 % of the way up with a slight bass boost, the 1001RB with the EQ flat-volume/master at 25% and the horn turned off on the Avatar and it was shaking the walls.......Can't go wrong with Musicman and GK

Randy - Another Avatar lover here! I've heard that you should not turn the tweeter completely-off for fear of damaging the cross-over unit in the Avatar cabs. Might be old news, might've been addressed already, but I usually run mine between ¼ and ½ to play safe.

(Sorry for the hi-jack)

Good sport there Travis! Nice set-up and glad it's rocking for you! :)

Actually I just checked it and it(tweeter)was just slightly opened.Mabye that saved me? Anyways, Avatar cabs rule. You really should try a GK head sometime with your cabs Anthony. They really do sound awesome with Musicman basses.

Good to know. I've also heard that you should never use a 4-wire Speakon cable when combining a GK head with an Avatar cab because the Avatar cabs have both channels of the Speakon jack wired in parallel and it will mess up the bi-amp on the GK.

BTW, I've got a GK Neo 1001/212 on order that I can't wait to put together with my Avatar B410 Neo.

And of course...congrats, Travis, on the new rig. Someday, when you finally get the "perfect rig" and share the secret with us, I'll be much appreciative of your quest.l

You shouldn't use the GK 4 conductor speakon on any brand of cabinet that's not made for or hasn't been modified to accept it. I used GK cabs for years and don't miss the 50 watt horn section at all when using the Avatar. I'm sure you'll dig your Avatar once you get it.
