Musicman gigbag 5994

My Stingray came with a hardshell case, but I prefer gigbags, as I do very little traveling to gigs aside from my car; has anyone here tused the Musicman gigbag? I saw it on MF, and it looks well padded, is about $80 and is made by Levy. Perhaps others here have used other gigbags with success. Please let me know. Thanks!

I haven't used the EB gig bag, but have used this one from MF. Had nice padding and a very useful detachable front pocket bag. I can fit my Shuttle head and all the cords.

i personally prefer to keep my bongo on the case... if you're just travelling in your car you don't even have to carry it!!

I have that exact bag already, though I use the additional bag as a separate. It's a good one, but I'm thinking I will go with a hard case after all. BTW, Congrats on your new addition; don't get discouraged over gear. I've had to sell some really fine things once the kids came along. Kids are worth it, and you're never too old to start over--believe me. When I got bounced out of an executive and had to start over as a high school teacher at 56, I thought it was the end of the world. It was only the beginning. And now I finally have a decent bass besides.

Well thanks for the kind words, and I know that this is the RIGHT thing to do. When I'm done I will have 1 bass (20th SR5 HH) and my amp setup. I will eventually buy a good backup bass, but my SR5 will be my main bass. Oh here's a pic of my new baby girl:

i use a levy's gig bag all the time for "safe" transport... and by safe i mean: home -> bag -> car -> safe spot at work -> band practice -> bag -> car -> home

if i go to a gig etc and things aren't so predictable i use the case. but it really is nice to use a bag - its just easier to lug around

You can only play one bass at a time anyway. Kids are worth every sacrifice we make for them (I have 2). Theres plenty of time to acquire more basses.

i use only thr mm gigbags , they are excellent, i take 2 basses to every gig and these gig bags are incredible , very thick , tons of padding, keeps the basses safe and warm on those cold winter nights , the cases are way to bulky to carry to gigs, walkingthru crowds, opening doors, i just put these gig bags on and im set , thats my 2 cents worth.

I find I can get through a crowd much quicker if I'm wielding a case rather than a gig bag. Behind the knee is a good target to aim for.
