Hi.
I'm new here at this forum and ive got some questions about the Luke signature guitar. I'm thinking of buying it.

I havent had any experienses of the piezo bridge before so what is that?

Ive never played one so how is the neck? Is it more like a strat or more like something else?

Have anyone any comments about the vintage trem? Does it stay in tune even if you whammy a lot?

It is a 5 way switch on it right? So it must be easy to get a lot of different sounds from it?

And over all is it a good guitar?
Can anyone recommend it?

Greetings.

Proud owner of 2 lukes here (and various other ebmm's), as well as a 70's strat, a les paul studio, a prs custom 24, and an ibanez st 50.

And I should take delivery any minute (day) now of Luke #3. With a piezo. A rare bird indeed.

The Luke is by far and away my favorite to play. As soon as I heard the tone from luke's EMG's, I put some in the strat. Now it sounds as good as the Luke. But the luke is way easier to play, not as heavy either. Very slim neck. Unlike any other guitar I've played.

Very deep, rich crystal clean tones, and can rock like a mother on higher gain amp settings.

Find one at a music store and spend an hour playing it. You'll be hooked.

hi Victor
i hope i will be useful

:: you have never played a neck like this...
there are no guitars like that... it's an extreme V shape, you could love it or hate it.... you must try it before!!!!

Have anyone any comments about the vintage trem? Does it stay in tune even if you whammy a lot?

:: it' s similar to modern strato style but this one stays in tune well also because of the locking tuners. i've blocked all my strato bridges but on my luke is floating...so...

It is a 5 way switch on it right? So it must be easy to get a lot of different sounds from it?

::yes it's 5 way
a lot of sound: neck strato style but with active features
neck-mid out of phase sounds
mid very useful
mid-bridge not so useful the humbucker
choke the single coil
bridge for every rock riff or solos

very versatile for modern sounds, good clean tones not for jazz :)

And over all is it a good guitar?
Can anyone recommend it?

::yes it's a great guitar, very versatile if you play in a cover band
the only thing i could say is about active pickup: buy it only if
you like thier sound...they are very different from passive so
try it a lot before buying it

I hope i was useful for you

Here is some additional informaiton on the Luke setup:

There are specific answers addressing the Luke floating bridge.

BTW, I have a piezo on my Axis SS. It provides a very good acoustic tone (not quite my Taylor 814ce, but very good). It's great for blending in both acoustic and electric, when I'm the only guitar player. Also works great when I don't have time to switch guitars or when in high feedback situations (I don't generally have those). I have not heard the piezo on a Luke, but would think it's comparable.

hi victor,
to describe the profile of a neck we use letters...
imagine to cut in 2 your neck along a fret.. you'll have the side of the fretboard plain and the neck curved.

the most common type of neck is:
C round like strato
there are also D or U necks or oval necks
V necks are quite common on older stratos
luke have a pronunced V neck and it's not symmetrical: the top of
V is not in the center but a bit shifted up
so for this reason is so different from other necks

the guitar is shipped with floating bridge, 2 springs and 9-42 on it.
But it's easy to block it. idon't know if you can choose an hardtail bridge

also the EMG are different from others pickup

i advice you to try the guitar before..i don't know where you live and if it's difficult for you to reach a good guitar shop but it's always better to play it before buy .

althought this luke it's an awesome guitar, the easiest that i've played in my life

i hope i have been useful
