Hi there to every musicman owners and fans!

Well, i ordered a musicman stingray with piezo electronics. but now ive got some big doubts...

Does the piezo version of the stingray has a bigger body than the standard 3eq stingray?

I ordered with piezo pickups because my uncle is bassist too and he told me that would sound incredible and be better with the piezo. But my dilemma its that here where i live its very rare to see musicman basses its only displayed at shops like olp or the standard stingrayso i couldnt test the dual humbucker or piezo. ive seen a lot of people with the dual humbucker stingray and many less people with the piezo. Did i mistake ordering with piezo? what is better hh stingray or piezo stingray?:confused::confused:

answer please!

thanks:)

It really depends on your playing style and type of music. I personally love the HH or HS version for the tonal possibilities. The single H just isn't MY thing, but it may be YOUR thing. I don't slap, and I don't play with a pick either. I am strickly a finger player.

As far as the piezo option goes, I have heard that it really shines on a fretless. I have also been told that it isn't really worth the extra money for a fretted. I have a Bongo 5 HH/P fretless on order, and I have never heard it. I bought it sight/sound unseen.

I'm sure others will chime in about the piezo option on fretted rays.

Also, the body size is the same, as the only difference in the piezo is the bridge.

This is just my opinion.

what is better hh stingray or piezo stingray?

It seems to me that you might think your bass will come with ONLY the piezos. That is not the case. The piezos are located in the bridge and are IN ADDITION TO the magnetic pickup(s), they do not replace the regular pickup(s).

Tambien veo que estas en espana, y hablo un poco de espanol si lo necesitas asi.

You probably don't see as many piezo basses as they are a lot more expensive. Many people swear by them, and I know for sure the next MM I order will have piezos. It will be a bongo 4Hp.

the piezo will give you another option, which might or might not be your thing :)

anyways, you cant go wrong with a stingray!

welcome to the addiction ;)

MrM

ps: you will soon see what koogie meant when he said that :D

Well, if you had to measure up to your uncle what would you do? :)

Listening is a good thing for musicians to do.

He told me that with the piezo add the bass sound would get an even more punchy sound and with more definition...He has checked out dual humbucker and piezo rays and he told me that the mix with the piezo with the humbucker will be great. I trusted him, but i was frightened cos ive never seen at youtube any bassist playing the piezo stingray (only old stingrays) and its rare to see that bass

its fine the mixture of piezo and humbucker for slapping?

thank you all for the quickly posts haha now im a bit dissapointed with the bass i ordered...

Enjoy the bass you ordered. You know what? Any configuration you buy you can play and be awesome.

Believe it or not I have impressed people with only a single H model and I don't know why but have to accept some things that I don't understand. :)

Life is a fun journey and enjoy the whole ride.

yep thats sweet sometimes its not about what instrument you are playing but i dont wanto to impress others, i just want to get an stingray ( cos its my favorite bass ever) but with a more versatile sound ( like piezo, or dual pickup add) Am I wrong if i think that the piezo will give me more versatility than the standard Stingray?

thank you all again :)

The Piezo will give you more tools. The diversity is what you are capable of hearing.

imho

Sorry didn't mean to do that. Enjoy your new bass. Play it long and in good health.

I was told by my dealer that you can't order an HH SR5 with the piezo option. I culd only get a single H w/ piezo.

Maybe you can order a 4 stringer HH with it, but maybe someone else could clear up that question. Not trying to hijack the OP's thread, just wanted to make sure he was getting what he expected.

You are correct. Only the Bongo can be ordered with dual pickups and piezos. I think the OP meant that his uncle checked out both versions...dual pickups and piezos.
