I have first dibs on an RD112 amp.
It's been well gigged and could do with some TLC but it works fine.

I have been offered it on loan to see if I like it.

Anybody here have any experience of these amps?

or would I be better off getting another model of Musicman amp? ( I must have a combo)

I'm after a gritty bluesy tone but would want it to clean up nice too.

Big Poppa, you recommended a model of MM amp a little while ago but I couldn't find it on the search.

Had one for a few months in 1987 (they were a few years out of production even then). Nice enough amp but you could do a lot better now.

I assume though you'll be having it for the name and curiosity value rather than relying on it as a main gigging amp, in which case I think it'll do what you want. No idea of it's internal workings (transistor pre-amp???) so don't know about spare and repairs.

PS We forgot Rockpile.......despite the English bassist and the Scotch guitarist.

Jeez Candid it received some great reviews on there!
Thanks for the link.
Edit
I think it's a 50 watt combo that's up for grabs

Spudman, it sounds like a very interesting amp to me. Back in the 80's and early 90's, I recall seeing an awful lot of them set up on small (working band) stages, back when I traveled. That's gotta account for a lot, in my book.

I'd also go more for the 50 watter, and since I'm a 6L6 fan, it would be biased for those. I think the only problem I might have with them is with solid state cleans, but it should be easy to add just a little hair, without the use of pedals.

I wonder if EBMM will ever get back into making amps again? I assume they have their old schematics and would only need to fine tune a few things to modernize them---or just create reissues. That's probably way simplified but it would be cool to see them again.

no I don't think that they would do it - seems a lot of money to tool up to compete in a market like that.
But who the hell am I to say???

Bumpski.
BP if you read this what was the MM amp you raved on about ?

I've heard some good about them in regards to them being high wattage clean-tone monsters (not so much overdriven). However, I also heard that they weigh in like a pallet of lead solder.

I could be mistaken, but I think these amps were equipped with EV 150 watt speakers, which weighed a ton. Don't know what the 4x10 speakers were.

The spec weight for my 410-HD is 75lbs (35kg), and I love every ounce of it ;)

Spud, BP rates the 410 65 Watter as his Fav ;

I love that (410-HD) amp I have quite a few old mm amps including several NOS in the box.
THe 4 10 65 with the tube preamp is the holy grail...the speakers arevery close to the old 4x10 bassman spec

Give it a shot Spud. They should be fairly bullet-proof and there are quite a few decent techs around that can look over it.
