actually i couldnt figure out which one should i go ... a musicman Steve Morse y2d floyd rose or a musicman jp 6 with piezo... there are some differences and also a price difference as well but i need help somehow about the differences and the choices.... the thing that i thought is the fret difference which y2d has 2 less frets than the jp6 i dont know which one i should choose ... and also i wonder if the jp6 custom tremolo can act like the floyd rose ... and also the tones i that i want for my new guitar should be really versitile which makes me to go more about y2d but i heard that jp6 piezzo has also very versitile sound ..... anyway i need a brief explanitaion and help about.. the fret difference .. floyd rose and custom bridge of jp6 and also the tones of both guitar.... i am using a silhouette special nowadays and i am very happy with it but i want a guitar which has a nice tremolo... i would be pleased if you help me if you tried or if you have any idea about these guitars

I really think that you need to try both of them because they are completely different "animals".
Me ol' mucka "The Devil" swears by the Morse guitar because it is so versatile.
The JP6 with Piezo is a great guitar imo has a great feel to the neck - good pair of Humbuckers and the trem is very good on it. Now I am a bit biased on floyds and have never got on with them - the JP6 uses a "classic" trem is very stable and floats too.

I own 2 y2d's and 2 jp 6's and spud is right- you really should try them out if you can because they're different in a lot of ways- rest assured, though, that both are terrific. My y2d's are hardtail though, so I can't comment on that other than to say I never got on with floyd's either, but I find that the jp6 bridge is brilliant.

I owned a Floyd guitar and have a JP and though you cant hold it up by the whammy bar and "Herman Li" it(ha idk who would do that to an EBMM anyway, only fun with cracker jack guitars), I think the JP trem is much more versitile, I hate tuning Floyds and the JP is a million times easier and stays in tune just as well, maybe better. Y2Ds are beautiful though and Purple Sunset has always been my favorite production color so good luck

try them, they are totally different.
the Y2D has the same nut width as your silo, the JP has a wider nut and fretboard.
the Y2D has a solid rock sound, the JP is a more modern sounding guitar, but both are great!
they both play like a dream, but different animals, as said before.
if you are playing more the "classic rock" hard rock styles, i would go with the Y2D, if you´re playing more heavy styles, go with the JP.
but you have to try both!

i have both and an ass. as far as feel goes, the jp is a scalpel and the ass is a hammer. they are both deadly in the right situation. the y2d is right there in between. jp6 is the most comfortable guitar ever. y2d isnt but its not bad by any means. for me it gets the least amount of play but thats because the jp6 has a faster neck and the ass is more versatile/lower output.

you probably shouldnt play them both because you will end up with two guitars. play the cheaper one or the prettier one and never look back

If you havent ever owned one then you might not know the chore in changing strings and tuning...I mean obviously many players love them but imo the JP bridge is a Floyd killer, also you will only be able to dive, with the JP you can go up and if you throw on a tremel-no you can set it up to dive only or stoptail so you can detune with ease....but you are right it WILL be quality no matter what, the Y2D is also a rarer bird... believe me I would own one if I could*see avatar*

one the new Y2Ds, you can move the floyd upwards as well!
the older ones or only for divebombs.
if a string breaks, you have to change the guitar as fast as you can, because both the JP and the new Y2Ds will go out of tune at that moment.

A Floyd-type bridge is just something to adjust to. IMO

I have been using them since the mid 80's & I have a hard time playing a guitar without one. Take a look at my MusicMan Guitars list below..... all have the Floyd bridge and I LOVE 'em all.

On my Amber Axis, I had the body routered so the bridge, "floats". That made the guitar even more versatile.

I have played the JPX and the trem is smooth & very cool.

Do you have a store near you that you can try these guitars out?

Re floyd vs Floating JP

I used to have Guitars with floyds on them, a Satriani, and another Ibanez that I cannot remember the model, And now I have none of those, and 3 Jp's. But it is all just personal preference. Get what you like.

Why isn't the standard Morse with Floyd not an option? Standard Morses have 11 pickup combinations where the Y2D has 5.

actually standard morse model has lots of pickup variations i want a screaming rock guitar with ease of use u know the standard has lots of variations and i think i will not handle that variations thats why i am going to think more about y2d and also purple sunset color is another beauty which makes guitar attractve for me :p:D:rolleyes:

Well, to me Y2D is a rock machine as well as jazz box, it can also do country, metal (bridge pickup is really high output) and loads of different things including making other guitarists jealous. Very versatile instrument.
I haven't really tried JP that much, but there is one other thing for you to consider - JP has a contour body while SM-Y2D has no contour at all.
