No idea why... it just fell over and hit the ground hard. Kaboom!

Not a scratch, dent, etc.... didn't even throw out the tuning!

Why am I posting this? I have owned 5 Gibson Basses/guitars and 3 of them have fell off the stand.... 3 headstock repairs.

This bass fell hard and it is still perfect!

Yeah baby!

BTW, the bass is less than a week old!

Diplomacy and tact have never been my strong suits.

I think you have to seriously look at user error if you want this frightening trend to cease.

Yeah that happened to my tobias a couple of times, was ok but one of the tuning pegs snapped, gah. Since then it's wall hangers all the way ;)

Also my SUB has had a good few fights with the ceiling, one or two of them results of me being a bit too optimistic while putting it in the hanger... another one not realising how low the ceiling was while taking it off at band practice and proper twatted it against a metal ridge in the ceiling, and i honestly thing the ceiling came off worse! These things are made to last!

You need a new type of stand. I have gone to all Hercules. Locks it in the holder, large base, cannot fall out of the stand or be knocked over.

Time to change.;)

I have a stand made for 5 acoustic guitars and a double Hercules stand.

I was using the $8 el cheapo stand so I could post pics of my new bass for you clowns! It's all the EB forumites fault!;):D

Ouch!
Good to hear the bass survived!

and +1 on Hercules stands, I just recently took about ten home from a store and swapped all my other stands for them.

About stuffing-the-ceiling-with-headstocks... been there, done that...

Add me to the hercules stand crowd! I've never had a bass just fall off of a stand...and I've had some cheap stands...guess I've been lucky, but once I got my Herc stand, I'll not be buying anything else...

My personal favorite stands are these QuikLoc stands. They support by the body rather than cradle the neck and have no rotating parts. You'd have to give them one hell-of-a knock to make them fall. The ones designed for acoustic guitar will fit any solid body or acoustic guitar or bass.
