My 2nd is arriving tomorrow!

Hi all,
I've been on the site for almost six months after having purchased a LUKE in June. Now I'm on to #2. I have a Morse sig arriving tomorrow. I feel like I've graduated to become part of the addiction now. On top of this I've sold one of my other guitars recently (you know one of those fairly popular models from a fairly popular manufacturer ). No remorse at all. I don't see the need for anything but the LUKE and the Morse for many moons to come. I'll get pics up soon.

Love Steve Morse more than just about anything...but the guitar for me is the Luke...and i expect always will be.

Sorry if this is too tangential to the original post, let me know if I should start a new thread ...

... Physically/Aesthetically I think the Luke is an awesome and beautiful guitar but, and I've not heard enough clips to make a sound (pardon the pun) judgment call myself ... aren't EMGs kinda flat / compressed compared to magnetics?

Genuine question, not wishing to start a war. Personally I love single coils, how do the EMG equivalents sound?

The Luke is an awesome guitar really and the sound is not sterile at all. The EMG have their own personality. I often plug the Luke straight into the amp and get a great sound. I have played EMG exclusively (SL20 kit on a strat) for years before having a Luke really this combination is great and the SLV singles are a great single coil pickups

I play clean very often and use position 5, 4 and 3 really the EMGs are doing great I can get some Blues Clean sound for the neck or Gilmour Shine on Intro. A good Dire Straits or Marillion sound from pos 4. a bit of chorus and a delay and you are in a nice liquid sparkling world
