oh yeah! my wolfgang smells that way too! I honestly dont think its the oil or wax. the fenders have finished necks (which dont feel as badly as some of you make them out to be)...Not tryin to give you a hard time, just sayin... If you're wrong, it would only be right if you sent your JP to me, but not for a chopping :D

Yeah I wouldnt chop no guitars just emmm

sniff them

yeah I have a strange guitar sniffing fetish

The reason this post is here is that Im planning on stealing all the EBMM on this forum to sniff but I wanted to check that it wasnt just my Jp that was smelly :)

I was there when I used other strings and how come no other of my guitars with EB strings smell like it

I think its more to do with the wood treatment than the strings

Was just kidding. BP made a comment on another thread about EB using patuli oil to make their strings. He was just kidding too... I think. ;)

The smell usually is the fuzzy lining in the case. Whenever I bought a PRS I would sit with the case open and just smell it. They have the best smelling cases. As a chemistry student, my guess is that the synthetic fuzz inside has an ester in it (esters give those fake fruit flavors like banana or watermelon to gum and many other products) that evaporates. Hopefully there are no benzene compounds as we may be risking case cancer from all of that sniffing.

When I take my 96 Axis out of it's case it still has that lingering smell that was there when I bought it new and one that I love. Same w/ the Luke.
