Hi guys

You may remember me posting some rough mixes of a couple of our songs a while ago. Well all 4 tracks are now done and we are excited to show people what we have come up with. Originally they were all going to be acoustic and very simple - but things have change quite dramatically...

Essentially the band is me (upright and synth bass) and my brother (everything else) and on 'Point at the Map' our Japanese friend Ayumi did the vocals on the chorus. We're very proud of these tracks as we did everything ourselves with no outside help.

The songs are original songs for children, but I think everyone should appreciate them. Give them a listen and let me know what you think...I think my favorite is Point At The Map, and Food Song (you should not listen to Food Song if you are tripping on some sort of substance!)

Here they are, Enjoy!

Caterpillar

I Wish

Point At The Map (love this one!)

Feedback is appreciated, cheers guys and gals.

Zak

Edit: I uploaded them in the best possible quality, so just be patient with the downloads...it's only a few minutes.

Wow! You can really be proud of you. Nice songs. Very good sound in professional quality. Very good arrangements. Children will really like this. :)

The singers voice reminds of "Fools Garden / Lemontree".

My fav is the food song :)

"Songs For Grown Ups" is a great name for an album.

You may recall me mentioning that Mrs.sitonmybass is a teacher with a master's degree in Special Education and that she teaches children with autism; she'll be interested in listening to these.

If I recall, you have been working with an autistic individual.

I do recall you mentioning that - which is why I was eagerly awaiting you posting in this thread. Give them a listen, get Mrs.somb to listen. I would love to hear what you think!

I work with an extremely autistic 17 year old, and I can't wait to show him! I just know we'll be dancing round the playroom for hours on end...

Haha, just read this!

Her and I will gladly listen to this together.

Watching him "dancing round the playroom for hours on end..." will be entertaining for you as well. And it will be justification that you've done a great job with the songs. Autistic individuals' reactions tell it like it is.

This made my day. Thank you.
What's the name of the band?
Thanks for listening! We're called 'Give Peas A Chance'

Fantastic. I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

I really hope he enjoys the songs, because there is literally nothing I enjoy more than choosing a CD to put on together and then running around the room seeing the smile on his face. Saturday morning is 'Scamps' - a club for autistic children which we always attend and I'll give it to all the kids there to listen to aswell (if they want to that is!)

Hmm :( It looks like you may have exceeded some limit with dropbox. I get an error when I try to download any of them. Too bad... I was really looking forward to getting home so I could have my 5 1/2 year provide her feedback. :)

Your work with autistic children is very impressive!

Hmmm, try on a different computer maybe, as others seem to have downloaded them no problem. I have used 1% of my dropbox storage so it's not a limit issue...Try again!

Thanks, it worked from my work PC. I guess Dropbox does not like macs. (The Geeks out there may find that comment sarcastically funny)

WOW! Those are not children songs... I was expecting somthing like "Schnappi das kleine Krokodil" (Snappy the Little Crocodile) but wow, those are almost grown up songs! Excellent job. Change one or two words i.e. Replace "read" with "hate" on "I Wish" and its no longer a Childrens song, It becomes a fun ironic grownup song. Don't get me wrong, I am not telling you to change the song, I'm just using that as an example to explain how good I think the compositions are. Much better than a lot of the silly stuff my daughter is subjected to (She is into "Schnuffel" now *barf*).

You guys definitely need to do the "Songs For Grown Ups" album! :) I'd be one of the first in line to buy.

-Matt

PS. Forgot to add. Caterpillar and Food Song are my favorites. :D

Hi there Duarte!

Well, I'll focus on the music and production matter, 'cause English is not my native language and don't wanna bother with kids lyrics, OK?

It sounds very well to me, all levels are right, vocal is clear and centered, nothing is missing, nothing to add! :)

In this music genre You are grown up (and the band too), so You just continue Your mission please!
You guys have the green light from me for this project and I wish You all the best! ;)

Very cool stuff. I like it a lot. It reminds me of Madness (the band) and a bit of a dutch electro project called Zea.

Do you try to make this as a life show too?
