No, you have to buy from an european dealer. The exceptions are used (of course) and ltd eds that are 2 years old. (so when the 2010 le comes out US stores are allowed to sell you the 2008 model even if it's new in their inventory)

I definitely would buy in Europe but Big Al (and 25th) are sold for horror prices here in Europe. I am afraid that there won't be much Big Al basses that are sold directly from a German dealer. Actually I only know two guys in Germany that are playing/owning a Big Al. Both bought their basses in the USA...

i got my big al today. And... It's a really good. No seriously, its a damn good bass.

I dunno what magic potion the mm folks drank this year but both the big al and 25th are absurdly great instruments.

So i got home late from work but still squeezed in some playing time. In general the pickup selection options + the preamp give your an absurd amount of flexibility.

The single coils are pretty amazing. They rock solo'd and rock combined. The bridge solo'd is super fun & a refreshing new sound being that i'm a "humbucker at the bridge" kinda guy.

I had a bongo once and i found myself playing differently due to the preamp. Kinda like the preamp was so flexible it would constantly dare me to do new things w/ my sound.... In turn getting me to play different styles. This happens again with the big al. It just makes you stretch yourself cuz the bass can - you almost have to try and keep up with the breadth of the bass.

Its a lot of fun!

It has a sterling neck - so that's excellent & feels right at home to me.

So chalk me up as a fan. Its a damn good bass.

Thanks for building it guys :)

and here's a pick from brandt since i haven't snapped any of my own

if you've got the $ and are considering getting one just do yourself a favor and go for it. I haven't been this floored by a bass in a long, long time

Alrighty... I took my weekly visit to the perfect bass [love being so close to them] and I played the big al one more time.. Im glad I gave it a second shot, problem I had before was I picked up the one with the dead strings.. This time I picked up another one with fresher strings.

...................I was wrong it has no similarities to the bongo,

It sounded great, what ever pickup wiring it has with all the buttons in the up position is the best. If I owned this bass it would be the only position I would play it in, passive and active, with pickup buttons unpressed, it sounded great..

Im not sure if I will be getting one, Im really a guy who is into simplicity, one pickup no buttons kind of guy. My sterling h/s is great and can do any tone, but theres just something about that single pickup that just works and makes things very simple.

Who knows what Ill end up, stingray or big al. Great basses.
