FWIW on the subject of Loctite, here's some additional info:
As was noted, the blue stuff is the right thing to use. If anyone is reading this thread and wants to make sure they avoid disaster, do NOT get the red Loctite!
The blue is meant for fasteners that have to be removed again someday. The red is for stuff that you never want to take apart.
You can use alternate brands. AFAIK everyone else uses the same color coding.
It's possible to break the Loctite bond with heat if the screw gets stuck, but given that we've got wooden basses with paint on them, that's problematical. I can't imagine that ever being necessary, though.
AFAIK the Loctite bond isn't as strong if you turn the screw after it's been installed the first time, but that probably doesn't matter for our purposes.
I've gotten hardware before that had dry blue Loctite already on the screws, which implies that you can apply and let dry before you install if you're worried about getting the wet stuff on anything.
