I had a DVD recorder for Christmas - one that you can transfer from VHS - HD - DVD.

So I had a play around with it and transferred one of my brother's TV programs from VHS to DVD.

Let me explain - in TV/Film circles my brother (Gerald) is a well known designer and designs the sets for TV and film productions.

Programs he has worked on include major productions from the Albert Hall, Sydney
Opera House
etc. Period progs for the BBC - District Nurse.
He has also done 3 series with that German Professor guy who cuts up human bodies on TV ( yeah in the "coldness" of internet type that sounds totally gruesome but the program was riveting!!)

Anyway, onto the subject of the thread, He worked on a show back in 1998 for the BBC, called "Still Rockin'" and the artists involved were all Welsh - Dave Edmunds, Pino Palladino, Mickey Gee, Gerraint Watkins, Andy Fairweather-Low, Henry Spinetti, Ahran Ahmun.

Mt brother knew jack 5h!t about guitars and when he showed me sketches I cringed!!

I told him that it had to be a Telecaster. He also went for a Les Paul shaped stage with Piano keys in the background and a giant Plectrum - it sounds naff, but when it was all lit up by the lighting director, it was amazing!!

Anyway - I grabbed some screen shots from the DVD to show you the giant guitar.

It was kept in storage for a while and was eventually destroyed.

I hadn't been introduced to EB guitars then otherwise I would have got him to use an EB guitar (with permission of course!)

After the show I hung around with Dave Edmunds and Pino and had a blast!!
Here's the opening credit which was a fluid animation cutting away and going into the actual headstock decal

set design

Hey Spud, ask your bro if he's heard of a guy named John Corso. John lives in the same town as me. He's a retired set director from Hollywood. He's done Stallone movies, the original Psycho etc. I'm supposed to be meeting up with him and a friend in the next coupla weeks.

Back on topic-looks like your brother has a lot of talent!

Hi Road Pop - yeah will do - I'll ask him when he gets back from a stint away.

Unlikely though because the films he's worked on have been shot in Europe.
Primarily "Big Bro" is a TV designer but when called for and the moneys right - he'll design anything!

I wish I had his talent - (and his money!! ;))

Hey Travs
'bout time you got rid of that AL - you've had it a couple of months now!! :D

Last night was a gas - "Thursday's Thursday" as they say in these parts and that means a jam night down the local boozer.

I had been tipped the wink that Paul Chapman (UFO, Skid Row etc) would be there, so I was even more looking forward to the jam night. I'd had a book bought for me for Xmas on the history of Rockfield studios where Black Sabbath, Dave Edmunds, Queen, Motorhead, Robert Plant and Paul Chapman had all recorded.

I'd already had the book signed by a mate of mine Burke Shelley from Budgie and I knew Paul Chapman had recorded there too - so I was keen to get him to sign the book.

I was with Burke, Paul, Paul's wife and his Mam and we started talking about a club in Cardiff we all played at called the "New Moon" (Go here for a sound bite from Jiffy, one of our roadies, reminiscing about our exploits 30 years ago!!).

Paul and I got talking about guitars (as ya do!!) and I was waxing lyrical about
Ernie Ball guitars and my Albert Lee guitar. We also talked about Dave Edmunds who I bleeb is Paul's cousin.

Paul signed my book thus "Have lots of fun with Ernie!! Best Wishes Cardiff Soul Mate Paul Chapman."

I was hoping to see Phil Campbell too from Motorhead - but he didn't turn up as expected. Never mind - I'll see him again.

ahhh memories !!!

Spudster, get your own web site and start bloging the past. me and my firends love rock lore told 1st hand. that my friend is the 5hit! My good friend and neighbor worked for Warnen bros. in the 90's and he has the same kind of cool stories...like living next to Lemmy or being in the secret sealed air chamber studio that holds all of the master recordings of WB artists. cool stuff.

Hi,
I taped this show and thought it was excellent but I've lost the tape. Any Idea how I can get hold of it again?

Cheers
