I had my SS Plekked by Charlie when I had it refretted with stainless fret wire... FANTASTIC

I know a great tech near me who as well as doing my awesome refret, is also a genius with wiring, just in case you're ever down this way.

Cool! I didn't know they could plek stainless steel.

I might consider a Plek set up- It's weird, entrusting your axe to a machine. Who knows? before you know it we'll have computers playing instruments...

Whoooaaa! That was quick.

You should start charging for this service (After I've got my diagram of course...)

Update time- Pickups wired in, complete with silent circuit.

Much happier now :)

Whether r not I should have removed the EMGs in the first place is another story- I'm sure people still have opinions on this...

I can say that this is much more versatile now- and I just love the sound of the Bare Knuckle crawler. There is no way I could go back to the EMGs now. Unless I can think of a way of having the Crawler and the SLVs on the same guitar- but I'm sure that would be far too complicated!

Many thanks to Beej for the wiring diagram and the help.

I'll post an update next week and let you lot know how I'm getting on with it.

It does! I tells ya!

I posted it on a previous thread- I will take pics with the new pickups. I don't like the look of the vintage rails with the half black half silver rails.

I need to get some black paint and sort them out now.

Excuses Excuses!!

Post pics or it will be like "Back to the future" and fade from existance!
Its true!
Once you sign up here and post the serial number and a secret circuit is activated and if a picture is not posted within a certain amount of time the guitar will fall between the cracks!!
Just ask Steve Lukather!

Hi guys,

I am very interested in the passive pu config for the Luke.
How do you attach the pu to the body, as there is no pickguard. Do you use the springs under the pu?

So Beej, if I understand you well, I should go for the Bill Lawrence?

Thanks.

You have to make sure that you go for pickups that don't have that sticky out bit- what ever that is called. The seymour duncan rails and mini humbucker series will fit easily into an EMG foot print, but it might be worth emailing some manufacturers and asking if they can custom build the pickups without the sticky out bit (Technical term please!?)

Just put the spring (or foam/rubber is good) under the pickup and put the screws through into the wood.

Bobs your Uncle, Fanny's you aunt, jobs a good 'un.
