My Daughter Wants a Music Man Bass....

My daughter is 11 years old and loves music. I was down in my basement working on some stuff (woodshedding) and she says, "Dad, can you teach me the bass?" A friend of mine let me use his 3/4-scale bass. She started playing. I would work on various beginning things for her. She has almost outgrown that bass.

We were talking over dinner one evening, and I asked her if she could have any bass she wanted what would she get.

She looked up and put her finger on her chin (that denotes deep thought) and said, "Probably a Music Man."

That was too cool....

I just looked at my wife and shrugged my shoulders. "I promise I didn't tell her to say that.", I said....

We'll work on getting her a Music Man in the future.

Cheers,

She sounds very intelligent.

In fact, I'm now convinced I should buy a MusicMan too. ;)

sounds like a great girl

Thanks....:D

She was playing this little student bass and she was griping about how the frets buzzed. I said well, the better you get, the less they'll buzz. She said, "Bot if I had a Music Man bass." I sat there with my mouth open.

We went to GC and I let her try a Sting Ray 4-string. She was right. On the EBMM, she had no buzzes....

Cool indeed....

I feel your pain, I keep catching my son playing with my ball...wait that goes in another thread LOL
Anyway, I think he has his heart set on a Silo in carbon blue pearl with a black pickguard....I don't think I'll ever get my BFR or Bongo ordered at this rate.......

She neeeeeds a Music Man. :D

My son always filches my Bongo. How can I fault him? He's got good chops and he can tell the difference!

Well, I said earlier that she is a Mark King nut. I'd post a link to a vid if you don't know him; but youtube is blocked here at work. Go to youtube and do a search on Mark King and watch his bass solo and "Love Games".

That said, I'm putting together a nice strategy to get her into some Tony Levin and Dave LeRue...:D

What a good girl. My 16 yr old son is always helping himself to my sterling and when asked about it, he casually replies "but it playes so much better than mine"
How can you argue with logic like that?

Same here. Only it's my father who says that when he borrows my JP6 :D

Every son and daughter musician should want a Musicman!

My 12+ year-old guitar player is waiting on a Silo... I am already planning for a 30th anniversary Silo college graduation gift for him. Perhaps his first will come at 16. ;)

My 9 year-old plays piano and can't wait to "play bass just like Daddy". He's a bit on the smaller side, so we're basically just waiting for him to be physically large enough to handle a bass, while he continues this musical education via the piano training (which he also loves). He doesn't know it, but as soon as he's big enough, the Sterling goes to him! :)
