my dilema

I have only one EB retailer in my area (Long and Mcquade) and I love doing business with them.
If I want to see an EB I think I have to head down the States.
However, they don't have any EB in stock let alone an Axis, which I am looking to buy.
To order one i have to put 50 % down ( no prob )
But the problem is I have no control what guitar gets shipped. I am sure they all have high quality. But some guitars have a really nice laminate pattern and others have an "ok " pattern.
I know this has no affect over the tone of the guitar or the playability.
Any advice ?

Most of the Axis guitars I have seen have a nicely figured maple top. However, you can pay to upgrade your top to ensure a "stunning" figured top. I think the upcharge is $500 for this. I decided to take my chances. I doubt I'll be disappointed.

Welcome to the forum! Good to have another Canuck in the ranks!

The Long & McQuade in Ottawa has three Axises in stock. Why don't you ask the shop near you to have a couple different Axises shipped to them from other stores, then pick one of them?

Anyway.... I bought my silo new at Steves in Montreal.... I paid close to $1700.00 !!!!!!!!!!!! I could of waited for one on ebay or even fly to Florida, Play a round of golf, have dinner, and have enough to get a used silo or axis!!!!!!!

What eases the pain is that is a discontineued Autaumn Red Sparkle burst and looks killer
