My ebmm petrucci/variax transplant

Thanks for posting!

Two questions - wasn't there a way to keep the original tremolo? And have you considered an OLP Petrucci for this? You know, JP is a great and quite valuable instrument ...

And besides ... it's like a surgery on balls  :D

Well, to each his own, but imho, to quote the good Marlon:

The Horror! The Horror!

Yeah, nice work man, but l would of done that to an OLP, not an ebmm pet, l'd be to afraid of screwing up the tone of my Pet by taking out a huge chunk of wood like that.

Scott.

No offense, but, I would rather have my eyes poked out with a shrimp fork than do that to one of mine.... :(

I have to say that that is one amazing job. When I first started reading, I thought, oh no, here comes another chop-job. Boy was I surprised! A first rate job on an amazing concept!

Man, there's hardly any wood left in that guitar... but I suppose it doesn't matter for the Variax! Given the task, though, the luthier did a great job! Very interesting signal options available through your toggles.

Gorgeous work! I was glad to see such an amazing peice of technology put into such a beautiful guitar. You would think the people who invented the Variax could come up with a better looking design than that hideous slab of wood they currently offer...

hi

thanks to everyone !

there is no loss of tone for my Di marzio. it sounds awesome

cheers

YOW!!! I don't know that I could have done that to mine damaged or not... Talk about a leap of faith.

I'm impressed, it looks like it worked out as planned. Nice job!

What no sparkly paint?!?!? ;) If I was going to go to that extreme, I think I'd have gotten a little more creative with the finish.

PugNinjas, I'm with you, I love my PodXT, but the Variax is one ugly guitar.

But what's the point? So you have a guitar with the 9000 variax sims and a Dimarzio?? I don't get it. The luthier has some talent though.

I have say it brought tears to my eyes as I am the proud father of a Pearl Redburst JP6.

Very clever piece of work but I think I would have gone with the Warmoth options for making nice looking guitars using the Variax electronics.

I suspect we are going to see a lot of more of this now that Line 6 have brought out the Variax 300 which, as we say here in the UK, is as cheap as chips (fries).
