Loosing a parent just plain sucks, no way around it.
I lost my father a few years ago and can understand what your going through now.
The best you can do is hang strong and remember the good times, it eventually will get better.

I have to say guys,
I'm really touched to know that if I ever run into one of the unavoidable road-blocks in life I can count on support from you.
I'm really blessed to be part of the forum family.
Thanks,
Greenwizard

Gerry, I'm so sorry to hear about this. Cancer is a terrible, terrible thing, not only for a patient but for their friends and family. I wish you the best, and keep your chin up. Before long everything will be back to normal ;)

Gerry,
I too have been down that road-almost 2 years now. I still shed tears but also have smiles of fond memories.
Time will do its healing yet I know it's hard. Your friends here at the forum are thinking of you and your family at this time and hoping/praying that the pain in your heart subsides..

Man Gerry,

I know what you are feeling it will be 12 years this new years eve that I lost my Dad to his battle with cancer, I was too young to lose my Dad and he was too young to go, but it was better than watching him suffer, it is always sad and only time helps with the pain, but it wil get better, I think of him constantly and doesnt help that I look just like him, I wish you and your family the best and hope your healing begins quickly.

I have a parent battling cancer as I write this. It's heartbreaking and unfair. (Mom just became a grandparent in the last 2 years) She was so excited to watch her grandkids grow up, and now this....it's brutal!

I'm so sorry for your loss...God Bless!

Very sorry to hear of your loss.:(

My father died 18 years ago. He was 37. Though the years he's been gone outnumbers the years we had together he is still a huge presence in my life.
He was my first music teacher. The things he taught, the values, the love and support he gave are very much with me to this day. He's still with me, giving me strenght and backing me up.

God bless you and your families in this difficult time, Gerry and Steve

Very sorry to hear of your father.

A wonderful book on the subject of loosing a loved one is THE COURAGE TO GRIEVE by Judy Tatlebaum. Don't be put off that it was written over 20 years ago.

Wishing you strength and good memories.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. I know exactly how you feel as I lost my dad 16 years ago this coming New Years Eve and I lost my mom to cancer a little over 1 year ago. She passed away about 6 weeks before the birth of my first child. Hang in there as it will get easier to deal with as time goes on.

My condolences, Gerry. I lost my father suddenly in 2002. It was very difficult at first, but people can and do get through these things. It will get better.

Gerry, please accept my condolences. I lost my father a week and a half after he was diagnosed, so I know what you're going through. You love him, and he loved you and gave you a wonderful gift. You'll always have that. One day, you'll be able to play, and think of your dad and be happy and at peace. But until then, we're with you in spirit.
