Awhile ago I bought a 1991 Gibson M-III to be my shredder guitar, as I’m mostly a Les Paul player. Loved the guitar, but when I took it to my tech for a fret job and set up it turned out that the truss rod was maxed out. Knowing that I had to return it, I asked my tech what I should replace it with. We talked about how I don’t like really thin necks and that I wanted a Floyd. He recommended I get one one of Eddie’s guitars.
I found a great deal on a 2018 flamed blue Axis. Guitar arrived yesterday and I’m blown away by it! The neck is super comfy and a gorgeous piece of birds eye maple. The pickups rip through my SLO30. The neck joint is the most comfortable I’ve ever played on a bolt on. The Floyd is super responsive.
I have bought a D-Tuna that I’ll put on shortly and an EVH Low friction pot that I’ll swap out for the volume pot. Unfortunately the previous owner had a bad level and recrown and left the frets flat, so I need to have that fixed. Besides that, I’m a very happy camper!
