Hi Guys,

I just recently ordered my first Music Man StingRay 5. I'm getting the Vintage Sunburst w/ white pearloid pickup guard, maple fingerboard and natural headstock. I'm also getting the bridge saddled with the piezo's. I'm quite anxious for it's arrival, as I ordered it May 29, 2004...so it's a little over 5 months now.

So, hopefully any day now.

Can't go wrong with an SR 5. Congrats and I hope it gets there soon.

Thanks Guys...I certainly will provide an update once she arrives.

Hey Jack...
this will be my first venture with a maple fingerboard...my other basses are either ebony or rosewood. So, for this one I figured I'd try something different. One of my worries was fingerboard discoloration after a number of years...I'm hoping wiping her down consistently after playing will help (I normally do this anyway).

Thanks Scott...I will give you a call.

Yeah...it has been quite a while...but after speaking w/ Scott from Customer Service, it looks like I brought this on myself.

I wanted to order my bass through the music dealer that I've dealt with for years and years now (you know, the nice small family-owned business where you know everyone's name). The problem is they are not actually Ernie Ball dealers. So, I ordered it through them, who in turn had to go to a Music Man dealer and order it. So, this extra layer seems to have caused a bit of a lag in me getting my bass. Scott needed to know the name of the dealer who actually put my order in (which I didn't know) so he could check on the status, so I had to call my local shop to find out. They seemed reluctant to tell me who the dealer is, but told me he would check it for me. So he got back to me and told me it is in the finishing stages and I should have it in 2 1/2 weeks.

Surprisingly enough, even though I went through a dealer who went through another dealer, I still got a better price on this bass than I was getting when I got quotes from some other Music Man dealers.

Don't worry about it. I've owned a few basses (a few of them for several years) and I never had a problem. Wiping it down is always a good thing though.

Jack,

You can call me any time...we can talk single H Bongos!

I will explain in a thread what happens when somebody buys a Music Man instrument though an unauthorized dealer once I get a chance to speak with Mikey.

Well, that's what Dargin says.

Just watch your valuables, Mikey, that's all I'm saying, and don't ever leave the keys in the car.

I already know the answer to this one. Every time somebody buys a Music Man instrument though an unauthorized dealer, God kills a North American Flying Squirrel. :(

Wait--did I dream that?
