I just got back from L&M in Misssissauga and they had a few EBMM's in stock..

First I played the Sub1.... i don't like it...felt clunky to me

THen I picked up the Luke... it was somewhat of a dream living up to some of the hype that I got caught up in.

I think the neck pickup sounds awesome, I can't describe the sound, it's probably the best neck pickup I've heard in a while. While the guitar did play really well, it wasn't as fast as I hoped it would be. It was FAST, just not that fast. I watched the video of tristan ripping it on his Luke and it was unbelievable. I felt that I could even pull that stuff off... except the realization came that I was not very good which seriously hindered my experience with the Luke.

I have 2 Petruccis and a Luke. The Luke is one of the most unique guitars I own. I have it set up with .010s and really had never gotten it setup the way I like till I spent some time with it yesterday. A clockwise turn on the truss rod and 6 or 8 turns of the trem-claw screws and the action is nice and low. Such a comfortable and fast guitar. Similar in that respect to the Petrucci but the neck is vastly different due to it's V-shape. Still a thin neck though. I'm really intrigued by this guitar.

I guess its personal thing: My Sub1 (HH) is the smoothest, fastest guitar I have. Its pickups are clear and resonant, and the neck alone is worth the money I paid for the thing.

Can't say I'm surprised the Luke outplayed it, though. From what I hear, they are nice guitars.

I thought the necks on the 2 SUB1's I owned were very fast. To my eyes the fretting, nut and quality of the rosewood board was no different from my SuperSport.Only thing i didnt like was the vintage saddles which I'm sure robbed the guitar of some sustain. The big chunky saddles on the ASS would have been a great addition to the SUBs imo
