I agree to a point. The set up was garbage. No, EBMM don't send their stuff out like that. No, you couldn't play it. No, the tech dude could tie his shoes. No, playing an axe with 3/8" off the fret board is comfortable.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!

Anywho, any guitar can be strung with whatever gauge string. May need a set up or the nut filed. Whatever. We know that.

PRS may come out strung with 9's, but they are not "optimally" built for 9's...that is a garbage statement.

JP's come out with 10's, but I have one with 9's, one with 10's and yet another with 11's. Beauty part is, not having to file the nut........

Raz, I hope they get their head out their tailpipe and get that axe set up for you to try. Try it out. If you like it, WALK AWAY! Then order one through one of our forum dealer buds. I think you know that, but that is what I would do.

My 2 pennies.

Hahahaha I bet Pete DuBaldo would love that :D

Oh and OC I wasn't being a prick I just didn't understand your point, but now I do. It's like STOP signs, sometimes I'll stare at them for hours before really understanding what they are trying to say

Right, but the guy said they're "designed" for 9s. That's crap. Petrucci's are setup for 10s out of the factory and yes, changing gauges may require a setup.

BTW, my Pet was a special order and came to me in tune and set at 1/16th. Just like all the rest of 'em.

You see this is what I was expecting...from all of the posts I read on the Pet's, I was expecting to walk in there and actually have some challenges, because of the low action that the Pets are well known for, thus making it too quick :D But I hit a definite road block and it was a 3/8" high one at that!

One thing to understand about me if you haven't figured it out thus far is that I'm discerninng about my gear, and persistant...I dunno if I ever told you the story of the Pearl RedBurst...it's a quickie but pretty funny...non matching stock, mags only...I go to a store in Rockland County (by E1966), I live on Long Island...it's a pretty quick drive there less than an hour in zero traffic...I get there after talking to the guy on the phone, and the guitar is a MESS. He asks for $1375 (BS!) and I'm basically put off because this isn't what we chatted about on the phone...so I go give me a minute, and come back with an offer of $1050 (knowing that all that is wrong is a little TLC, the setup wasn't bad but the neck was dirty dirty...) he shoots $1300, I end up with leaving with it for like $1150 with a bunch of extras tossed in (without it'd would
ve come to the $1050 I offered)...so I got what I wanted...I got it home and cleaned it up and it plays great...but it goes to show ya some shopkeeps are stupids...

I hear ya, I could have went toe to toe, I don't know, I guess with me beacuse it was a decision that I had to make, usure of whether or not the Pet was for me, and because I feel so dang attached to my guitars I just said screw these boys, I'm outta here...plus I was told on the phone it had the piezo bridge, however when I got there, no piezo...so I wasn't up for a challenge...besides I'm not much of a bargainer...just ask my wife

i do agree with raz you would think that at least on the higher end guitars they would keep them set up and maintained correctly. its in there own interest if they want to sell them .
