Step 1:

New nut, cut for ...............

Step 2:

A minty fresh set of Not Even Slinky 12-56 strings.

Step 3:

Add springs to flavour, trem near solid, and detune with a low B.

Step 4:

Rip some brutal riffs for us lot, and maybe throw in a funds transfer for 10% of saved cost over an elaborate axe change.

'K Thanks......................

Same here - everyone of my guitars is my favorite at different times. This past weekend I played my Axis at a show - it has been doormat for many months of playing my JP6, Luke and sometimes AL-HH. I was completely blown away and quickly reminded why I played an Axis!

I thought you sounded great on that TV show in OZ a few months back with the Dargie. The Dargie really suited you and it looked great on stage. I think it's all in your brain. Although another BFR would be nice. Maybe a setup with and odd set of string combo's you have not used? Or drop Tuning or even a different Amp. Thats a rare guitar, Weigh all the pro's a Con's. Then come to your senses man!! :)

the thing is, when you have 2 or more identical guitars, you always end by preferring one above all. This something I can't explain but that I have already experienced with 2 ASS. I ended selling my PBB while this my favorite color ever but the honeyburst was just better for me (and it has Piezo too)

OUCH!!

i hear you though D. It happens. happened to me with a couple of axii i had. sold one ... missed it. bought another. got along with it for a long time in conjunction with a JP. sold the JP and kept the axis. then played a Luke again and bought a BFR after selling the axis. Now i want another Luke to keep dropped. i know it will feel different but hopefully keeping it dropped will help keep their identities separate.

give it some TLC for a while then re-evaluate. Also, wait till you run it through that nice MK4 you were thinking about ;)

I don't think you're crazy at all. The BFR has the tone block and RW board. The DDII has an ebony board and no tone block. That stuff makes a difference. It is not always a night and day difference in sound to the listener but there is a difference in feel and guitar response. These are found in the nuances that only he player who is in touch with what they are doing can percieve but they matter.

If I were you I'd say good by DDII hello True Gold Luke with RW neck.

Are you talking about the tone or the playability? I'm assuming tone, which couple of the other guys said the BFR has different tone woods which definitely do make a difference. However I also play two guitars, and sometimes I favor one over the other on certain days, but I could not be without either one of them. But then again they are totally different...Y2D and Silo Special.

Deano,
Sometimes even a EBMM is not right for someone, i have had this conversation with a couple people, but I prefer standard Luke over the BFR ( talking BFR with tone block etc. ) when I had both I always went back to the standard.

So just either give it some more love or trade it in on a new BFR, backups are good.!!

For me it has always been that way even with identical models, each ax just has its own personality and it really does not matter if a guitar is a CS, BFR or limited edition sometimes the old factory standard just has an edge and can be the preferred model like Keith stated. Like some guitars you just create easily on and riffs pop out of nowhere and some are a dry well.

Mikey thanx for the cool Luke vid, never saw that and really enjoyed it.

I have to be brutal, i hated my Luke when i got it. It was stiff, clinical and had a sharp bit of cast on the bridge and the high e would last 20min. It took one major set up and sticking with it, lots of string changes and things started to happen, it just got easier and very soon it went everywhere with me, amazing guitar. I then got my JP Model, from new it was just amazing, played like a dream, same factory, but two different standards from new, either way both are amazing.
Have played a BFR Luke and did fell different to mine but only subtle.

Dean I have to say I never thought you would get along with the Luke Dargie. I know you are a big EBMM Luke fan but I thought the tone difference between the BFR and the DDII would be too much, certainly I thought the DDII Luke was lacking a lot of balls compared to the BFR, and the ebony board just didnt sit right with me anyway. BFR Luke is mighty great.
